PennyTel have an offer at the moment where you can get untimed calls to australian mobiles for a rate of 28.88 cents per call. This call rate also aplies to some other destinations that aren't already included in the flat-rate 8 cents per call. You need a PennyTel account and VoIP hardware/software to take advantage of this deal though. It can also be enabled/disabled very easily through the Pt Account interface so you can still make short calls to mobiles for the standard 12.78 cents per minute.

Probably better to be safe than sorry, yes, but I made a call within about 2 minutes of changing it and it went through at the flat rate. Annoying actually because it ended up only being a 90 second call lol.

Actually, you don't. Pennytel has a feature called ANI Callback that lets you initiate the call from your own phone. It will cost an extra 8c from a landline or 28.c if from a mobile. Still very cheap.
I never had alot of luck with the ANI Callback feature. Worked a few times…
is it possible to deactive the feature if i made a short call for 1 min and then activate it again for longer calls???
did anyone tried it and worked??
thanks
Yes, Very possible!, I did that quite a few times.
If you key 779 before your number (e.g. 779 61 2 1234 5678 for the phone number 02 1234 5678 in Australia) it should override the timed rate.
Just a note: make you you don't make your calls right away before activating it (it is disabled by default), or you'll get charged by the minute.
