Lowest ever amazon price, and even cheaper than TA's click frenzy deal. The Bx100s are a much better performing drive than the BX200s, so what a great deal.

Nice one - just wish the 500gb was only twice the 250gb price instead of thrice!

Block the deals and move on.

100% of your deals are just bloody shoes. Some people are happy with their current pair, FFS enough is enough.

      • Haha I knew this would be an easy gee up

    • +4

I count 2 SSD deals in the first five pages - about 3-4% I'd say. So you were close.

      • +1 for the analytics.

      Cranky pants

Sounds like a certain someone didn't get any Valentines Day lovin last night

Sounds like you need a new ssd

      • LOL

    • Yeah, and the other 50% are Eneloops - right?

  • Tempting….. also is it just me or are comments lagging on OzB? The "live action" view on Ozb shows this thread being commented on but hardly any comments are showing up… also the timestamps are behind by an odd time when logged out of OzB.

  • My my my… MUST.RESIST.

  • How does this compare to a SanDisk SSD+ or Ultra II? As I could pay an extra $5 for these drives and have the benefit of Australian stock/warranty etc.

  • I'm being asked for $5.77 shipping on top of $69.77. Is that correct?

    • Same.

    • My order came to $102.06 total.

Been seeing heaps of SSD deals, tempted to bite but not sure what I'd use it for…

Is it worthwhile getting SSDs to use as a portable drive? Or are benefits of an SSD lost once an enclosure interface is introduced?

    • +3

That really all depends on what you worthwhile. I mean, I have a WD Ultra 2TB which i got through a deal about 8 months ago on here as my portable drive. Basically 10x the capacity for a little more dollars compared to a $100 SSD, sure the speeds are nicer to have, but I've never been bothered waiting 20 sec more to transfer files onto my WD portable, so for me, it would not be worthwhile (not even close) at this price compared to the 2TB mechanical 2.5 inch drives aa a portable drive.

    • main disk drive for os and popular applications? yes. portable drive? probably no.

      • I wonder whether data integrity is much better than hdd to justify it?

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/10028/micron-3d-nand-status-up…

"The second-generation 3D NAND will start production in their Singapore fab this summer, and volume will be ramping up around the end of 2016 (during the second quarter of their fiscal year 2017). Micron predicts their second-generation 3D NAND will be at least 30% cheaper per Gb than the first generation, which they report to be at least 25% cheaper than their 16nm planar NAND."

Basically, flash memory is going to get even cheaper in the next 2 years. Well, all technology basically is, so unless you really need it soon, I'd wait as long as I could.

(I just moved about 50GB of data from my desktop of my SSD to a HDD, which will keep me going for a while longer)

    • Possibly a good reason to buy locally with a price protection card, such as Coles which gives you two years cover.

  • I'm getting $102.38 for the item and $8.44 for shipping ($110.82 total) to Warranwood VIC 3134.

  • Items: $69.99
    Shipping & handling: $5.77
    Total before tax: $75.76 (AU$106.47)

  • if you're from VIC, you may be able to pick up one from centrecom for the same price (BX200 240GB)
    http://www.centrecom.com.au/crucial-bx200-240gb-internal-sol…

    • That's the BX200, which performs much poorer.
