32GB Super Mario Maker Wii U Bundle is $338 at Big W (In Store)

After being absolutely gutted that I missed the Splatoon bundle with all stock gone before I could get to a store, I went in today asking what other bundles were available and walked out with this beauty.

Usually $438 at Big W (according to the receipt), so it's a pretty good bargain. It's not being advertised on their website though, so I would suggest calling up to check if stock is available. Receipt here:

Thanks to 4892. If you go to the BIG W website and set your location, enter this link and it should give you the stock availability for your area. Please remember the stock status isn't always accurate to the day but still a great guide.

Splatoon bundle was a great price.

    • If you can find it.

      • When it was first posted was there a fair amount of stock or was it always hard to find at $279?

        • Not going to last long at 280 regardless

        • Was always very limited (but I dare say this would be too, Big W don't stock many consoles).

      is this bundle hackable?

Can u put custom firmware on it?

      • Basically just set the up and use the DNS which blocks Nintendo servers so it doesn't auto update (Tubehax DNS), the exploit for WiiU is meant to be out very soon.

      • There is one version of loadiine tbat already works with 5.4.0 wich i think its is the firmware on this bundle

    • I've seen the basic white 8GB bundle at a couple of stores for $199? Not sure if is much of a deal

      • +1

Which stores? Amazed places still have them in stock! I'd jump at $199 for that bundle if I was looking for a wii u.

  • +1

I don't understand why Big W doesn't put stuff (the often sought after stuff) on their site like all other stores. At least have a 'Click & Collect' option available for customers; it's 2016.

      CURRENT YEAR

    • Well in the case of dvds, etc it's meant to be a different division.

Wonder why wii u price still does not drop.

Actually said on the website no longer available
Also didnt say that in the original version of the post.

          @unifex:

If you were that observant with post revisions and what the Big W website says, perhaps you should also read this.

I dare suggest that your negs mostly came as a result of you leaving an 'inappropriate' neg, as "Expired/Out of Stock" is not a valid reason to neg a deal. If you believe it is out of stock then all you needed to do was report it and let a mod deal with it.

      • That wasn't posted when i wrote that reply. The website actually says no stock available.

        • -2

Huh it said it wasn't available online. Check the revisions and time stamp and take your negs.

The link was to his receipt them got updated to the product page as reference but still saying not available online.

If you check my links you can see that from earlier in the day there was ample stores with stock.

Neg me again if it makes you feel better.

        • @4892: Its not when you read the post its when I read and post and those changes came in after I wrote the post. Eg it didn't say instore only when I posted my reply. I went to the site 20 or so minutes after the post was made and it had no stock available (at all).

Perhaps you should think about your replies and realize that updates occur to the posts. Its kinda hard to read instore only when it doesn't actually say that.

        • -1

@unifex: says not advertised online in both the early posts I read. Not rocket science to work that out.

        • +1

@4892: like talking to a brick wall.

        • @unifex: Huh? You called for insufficient stock saying not in stock on the website. In all revisions of the OP it has always stated "It's not being advertised on their website though," plus he posted a receipt on all revisions stating he got it in store.

Yes you are correct that the website has no stock but the deal is still available as he stated in the OP "It's not being advertised on their website though," as it wasn't. The link I pulled was archived and before I had posted it just searching on the big w website would find the "online only" version with a different sky for full price. My link will find you a console in store for $338.

I am sorry for insulting you earlier with a joke that you have obviously taken offence to.

          @4892: it's ok. No harm

  • Nice

  • I was saw this bundle at Costco before but forget the price. Is anyone can help to check?

    • Think its $400+ when u went past in crossroads store. But was not in stock

  • -2

    PRODUCT NOT AVAILABLE
We're sorry, this product is currently unavailable.

    • In store bro. Check the links down in the op to check your local stores for stock and good luck it's an awesome bundle.

Picking mine up tomorrow afternoon, apparently the guy is gonna put one away for me. :D Missed out on the Splatoon deal but managed to scoop this one up

    • Which state? (didn't ask for store in-case someone tries to snipe it :P)

  • A console that has only sold 12.5 million units since release deserves to be under $200 by now :)

    • That would be selling at a heavy loss

        wat

Nintendo is way behind XBOX ONE and PS4 sales. Time for some permanent discounting. That's wat :)

Plus, if this is to be believed, they could have made things easier for Wii U developers:

        • -1

By your logic since the ps4 and xbone haven't sold as much the 3DS, they better be discounted.

        • -1

By your logic since the ps4 and xbone haven't sold as much the 3DS, they better be discounted.

Good one; comparing portables with home consoles.

Vita should be discounted further; at least the PS Vita memory needs to be. 3DS is the clear leader in the portables space.

Nintendo (and others) get most of their money from software sales (licensing fees everyone has to pay). It makes TOTAL sense to discount the Wii U to encourage game sales. But then again, if there isn't much third-party love from the devs then they could be having issues here too.

Yes, anything that is selling embarrassingly low is often discounted. That's the logic. The manufacturers make up for it in game licensing fees.

I agree, I wouldn't mind getting a WiiU but they are terribly overpriced.

    • It was <$200 2 years ago mate, you missed the boat https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148583

      • yeah I remember that; Nintendo made far too many Wii U and had to clear inventory. Now it seems they have re-adjusted their forecasts and don't need to do that too much.

As anyone can see, they CAN sell it to the retailers for a price that results in under $200. Whether that is sustainable or not is anyone's guess, but considering that Nintendo are still underpowering their consoles compared to the competition (and don't have to pay any DVD or Blu-Ray licensing fees…) I think it might be possible, longer-term.

Stock availability links don't work for me. Page loads but buttons don't do anything.

Coming up as Not available in BIG W stores Online price $439.95 from the BIGW front page.

    Time to mark this expired?

  • Picked up the last Mario Maker bundle from Springfield Central in QLD.

  • Hope they start discounting the mario kart bundle like this

  • is this game installed on the hard drive or on disc?

  • Nothing left at merrylands, Nsw.
