Wii U - Splatoon Console Bundle - $279 @ Big W (IN STORE ONLY) + A Few Wii U Games from $29

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

32GB Splatoon Wii U Bundle is $279 at Big W. It's in store only so not a bad idea to give them a call to check your local store has stock. nb Big W online store check is unreliable at best.

Usually $360 so if you're looking to get a Wii U, this is a good bargain to jump on.

A few games that stood out to me (all in store only as well):

  • Bayonetta 1+2 combo pack - $29
  • Yoshi's Woolly World - $39
  • Animal Crossing amiibo Festival - $39
  • Mario Party 10 amiibo bundle - $29. Not online, receipt only.
  • Lego Movie Wii U - $15 Again not online, receipt only.

Special thanks to bargainbounty for the receipt.

Most amiibo are on sale too for $13.60

So thats like $ 209 or $219 for the console + a 60-70 dollar game, seems like a good deal. Good find.

  • +2

      - Box Hill
      - Endeavour Hills
      - Forest Hill
      - Fountain Gate

      - Southland
      - Waverley Gardens

Amiibo Festival is fun too, nice price, especially with the 2 amiibos and the cards included. Would still need a second $5 card pack for 2 specific multiplayer minigames, but for a game with a few peripherals included, thats a good price.

    • +1

I've heard mixed reviews about it but for $39 you're essentially buying the amiibo and cards and getting the game for free

      • +3

Its alot of fun, basically for someone that wants to play an Animal Crossing experience but doesn't have alot of time + a bunch of interesting minigames. It incorporates the stockmarket, character visits, events from the core game + unlockable board customization pieces, changing pathways and leveling up unlockable costumes. You basically save progress and unlock minigames as you go. You can control how long a game is, etc. 30 minutes to hours.

Its a chilled out experience, easy to play a bit and then turn off, the kind of game you just play whenever, when your tired, etc.

Some of the card games are interesting, one requires you to scan the right cards to hit certain things in an arcade style wack-a-croc game. You basically need to hold 3 cards in one hand and switch quickly.

        • +1

Nothing beats the balloon game! Playing with family to try and beat the highest score has entertained us for many hours. Well worth the price.

        • +1

          @Kilgharrah:
          Its addictive.

  • What price for on-sale amiibo?

    • Depends on region, i believe currently one featured in this is 20-25 in some regions, however they might be cheaper in Aust. I believe one of these has yet to be released outside the bundle. I could be wrong, im not big into collecting Amiibo outside the game functionality like in this and Mario Tennis and Smash.

      • +1

Oh, you're talking the amiibo bundles then?

Made it sound like all amiibo were on special again. Never mind.

        • +1

Sorry, I misunderstood you- I thought you wanted to on-sell the amiibo from the animal crossing bundle.

Most amiibo are on sale- have updated the OP to be more clear.

        • @Bands06: Cheers. Not much of a deal on 'em.

    • Here's the only sold listing i could find on ebay.

  • Online says Low Stock but none at Elizabeth, SA (Splatoon Console)

    • +7

      Have called(in SA);
      Brickworks
      Cumberland Park
      Kilkenny
      Marion
      Tea Tree Plaza
      Hallett Cove
      Parabanks
      Golden Grove
      Elizabeth
Colonnades (was disconnected twice so uncertain)
      Gawler
      Murray Bridge

      No stock

I am unable to travel to Renmark or Mt Gambier so I haven't even called, and Big W advise they don't do store transfer.

Have called Target head office who advise that there are 5 at Elizabeth and 3 at Hollywood but Target advise their price match policy is it needs to be in both their and the competitors current catalogue for it to be price matched.

Have called KMart head office and they advise no stock for the last 6 months.

Have called EB head office and they advise no stock for SA.

In adddition to this (unconfirmed) a friend has advised that Kwinana in WA have some stock.

      • +1

Missus just got one at Brickworks apparently last in SA, your post threw me off lucky she went looking for a headset.

        • Nice one man, I called Brickworks first and they advised no stock :'(
          Devastated.

        • Any chance you can post the receipt mate? Pretty peeved that they didn't even bother to look at the stock level correctly and want to chat to them.

    • Yes I guess you will be saying that when Zelda comes out.

      • +1

I was being sarcastic, Zelda will be fantastic…

        • -1

Zelda is becoming vapourware. How many rejigged editions are they going to release? Heck I played Wind Waker on a Gamecube over a decade ago…

        • @beyondtool: There is a new Zelda coming out, that is what I am talking about. Agreed there are too many remakes.

        • @lukeloop: I don't think it even has a release date yet does it?

        • -1

@beyondtool: I think it might be released to coincide with the new Wii console later this year but should be backwards compatible with the Wii U

  • This bundle is a premium model or basic??.I am novice to the game consoles.
I guess we could add more external storage if required???

    • +2

the black one is the premium model.

    • I don't think they've sold the basic since the launched the Premium, actually. Yeah Nintendo repeatedly recommends adding more storage yourself if it isn't enough (which if you buy a lot of Wii U games digitally yeah it isn't).

    • You can, though occasionally digital (eshop) games run better off the internal system wii u hard drive. You can run games off an installed external, though its best to get one thats compatible with the system. You can check online, their websites recommends some. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a…

Some alternative drives may need you to use a "y-cable" to plug into 2 of the systems usb points, to generate more energy (system is designed to not use much)

You can generally copy your game saves/ games onto an external, while keeping eshop games you intend to play on the wii u hard drive.

  • +2

Bayonetta bundle is great if there is widespread stock!

    • Yeah that is the best deal there. 2 GOTYs for $15 each

I just picked up the Mario party 10 + amiibo pack for $29.00 (down from $79.00) and the Lego movie video game for $15.00 (down from 30). Neither were ticketed so I wouldn't have known if not for Oz bargain. Thanks OP!

    • could you upload a copy of the MP10 amiibo pack receipt for price matching please? i cant see any reference to the pack online :(

    • Great deal for Mario Party 10 bundle. Do you know if it's nationwide or not? Can't find it on their website but would put it in the OP if you know.

      • Should be nationwide

      • I just grabbed the last from our local Canberra Store. So it is most likely Nationwide.

    • Thanks for posting this. The game itself is still full price, but luckily found a bundle and it was $29. Happy with my purchase :)

      • Hey jamie could you message me a photo of tour reciept so i can try price match at eb if i cant find one at bigw

        • +1

edit, i think i have successfully uploaded it to my account files, i'm assuming you guys can access it?

  • Sweet deal, sadly no stock in Ballarat :(
There's apparently (low) stock in Sunbury VIC if anyone is nearby.

  • anyone price matching?

    • +1

I tried my hardest, see comment above, at least in SA no-one has any stock of this that I can find.

Picked up Yoshis Wooly World for 39, thanks OP! also most Wii U games are scanning less than ticketed prices.

    • Did you happen to notice if Mario Kart or Mario Tennis were reduced?

      • +1

If they have stock I'll check for you this morning when I go in mate

  • have they stopped making Wii U consoles?

  • +1

Picked up the Wii U Splatoon pack at Big W Marketown ..Newcastle this afternoon - said online none in stock - rang store and they had one and held it till i could get in $279 couldn't pass it up..(32gb console) —- so…don't take the online page stock levels as gospel

  • +8

Brisbanites: I called around 15 stores before i found stock at Redbank. There should be two more consoles left there, i picked up one of them and staff confirmed there were still two left of the three they originally stated were in stock.

    Stores that i called:
    Beenleigh - No stock
    Booval - No stock
    Brookside - No stock
    Brownsplains - No stock
    Capalaba - No stock
    Carindale - No stock
    Chermside - No stock
    Loganholme - No stock
Macarthur (City) - Store was closed, may have stock.
    Mt Gravatt - No stock
    Mt Ommaney - No stock
    North Lakes - No stock
    Taigum - No stock
    Stafford - No stock
    Strathpine - No stock
    Underwood - No stock

    • Beenleigh had one left today. It's on hold for me to pickup tomorrow. Not sure why you were told there was none. I wonder how hard they looked for you? :( If there happens to be more tomorrow I will update you. Best of luck finding one anyway.

  • -3

Clearing shelves for new console code name NX?

    • Yes, it was stated to me several times that Splatoon bundles were ordered in for christmas toy stock only and they would not be replenishing :)

  • If anybody sees any stock around the Brisbane area of the Mario 10 Amiibo bundle for $29 mentioned above, i'd love to know about it.

    • +1

There's two in the cabinet at Mt Omaney

There's also a yoshi woolyworld amibo thing. No price on it though so doubt it's on special

      • i purchased both from my local for the special price and neither had a price on them. definetly worth scanning to be sure

        • I was tempted, but no wii u there so no point having the games without the console

      • Thanks!

Edit: Just rang and they said they have no stock and that they had people asking for it yesterday also :(

        • +2

Well I saw two in the cabinet this morning and were marked as being reduced from $79 down to $29, so them mentioning yesterday is s trange. They could have sold out since I was there at 9am, but them saying yesterday leads me to believe that they didn't check.

        • @butterbuts: I can confirm there was still 1 left (I just purchased the other one) in the cabinet as of 10am Saturday, So whoever you spoke to didn't check

  • Bayonetta 2 was the most fun I had in 2015. Incredibly good!
(PC, Xbox One, PS3 and Wii U owner)

  • Picked up the last MarioParty 10 bundle in Geelong. All infinity 3,lego dimensions and skylander 20% off. As well as Amiibo figures 20% off. 2 more amiibo festival left.

No splatoon bundles, did say Mario maker bundle 330.

  • I got my Bayonetta 2 Bundle from Browns plains, last one they had - but the store had lost the outer cardboard box

The staffer was helpful though in trying to locate it

  • Bayonetta 2 Out of stock at Southland - Melbourne :(

  • (NSW) Was able to find one this morning at Merrylands (last one)

Places I called and were out of stock included:
    - Liverpool
    - Carnes Hill
    - Winston Hills
    - Rockdale
    - Chullora

Try giving all Big Ws a call within the area, not just the ones listed on the website.

  • +2

Broadmeadows VIC has 2 copies left of the Mario Party amiibo bundle, I think that's all that was on sale

  • Gungahlin has 4 splatoon bundles left

  • Got Yoshi's Wooly World for $39 from Fountain Gate. Believe it was the last copy, but not sure. Absolute bargain, thanks OP!

  • Woden has 'plenty of stock' apparently.

    • Most places in ACT seem to have a lot of stock :/

  • Kwinana - WA - sold out, I bought last one apparently

  • Better to wait for a Zelda bundle?

    • Last Zelda bundle didn't make it to Australia. Would think that if one was coming out for Twilight Princess it'd have been mentioned by now. Maybe Zelda Wii U but who knows when we'll see that one >.>

      • It's still possible, it's early feb.

    • Any new bundle won't be this cheap for a while.
Splatoon has been around for a while, so they're making room for the next bundle which might be with Star Fox.
Get one while they're cheap or wait for Nintendo's next console.

  • -1

So tempting, dunno if I should wait if until Nintendo announces their next console..
