Wouldn't the Mother's Choice Jazz Convertible car seat (newborns to 6 months rearward facing or 6 months to 4 years forward facing) for $129 delivered (using the FAMILY20 coupon) was $299 be a better deal purely that it's worth way more and most likely a far better seat than the one in this thread. It's only an extra $14.75 for a far better seat one that's been discounted down from $299.

I bet the OP is wishing he/she could cancel that order and get the Mother's Choice Jazz seat instead.

    • The one the op posted is a convertible booster for up to 8 years old.

      • Children 4 years or older need the added Safe-n-Sound Protecta PLUS Harness which i'd say is an extra purchase. Out of the box it just supports children upto 4 years. It would really require that added harness for 4 - 8 years.

"For children approximately 4 years of age to approximately 6 to 8 years of age when used as a Booster Seat with Lap-Sash Seat Belt or Child Harness and lap or lap sash seatbelt (a Child Harness must be used in a position with a lap only seat belt). Suitable for use with the Safe-n-Sound Protecta PLUS Harness (Series 220/A/2010)."

And here is that harness for the 4 - 8 year olds it's an extra $21 for that.

        • A lap-sash seat belt is the over the shoulder seat belt in your vehicle

        • @Bargainaholic:

I see, but they really recommend that protecta harness for the 4 year old or over. If you want the harness it's an extra $21 at Target but looks like it's in store only.

Safe n Sound (Britax) is a trusted brand which would be my preferred carseat over a Dorel Australia branded seat.

    • I had a look at that one in the store. I really do not recommend it. It seemed like a good deal, but it is very light and does not feel sturdy at all. I would not put my child in it.

    • Thanks

  • Do not buy the protector plus harness. They are no longer recommended. Bug w has a vaby sale on too. For a convertible booster you would be better buying an infa secure ralley for $139.

    • Why are they no longer recommended?.

  • I should add that this seat has lower markers than the ralley so while a little more $$ now, it would last lots longer.

    • which one is this you mentioned? have you got a link?
      Thanks

  • Infa secure ralley from Big w

  • If you join the 'child restraints, is your child restrained correctly' facebook group there are lots of people with them. How old is your child? I'd personally not use a convertible booster under 2ish as they are much safer rear facing.

  • If you are looking for a convertible booster, id recommend taking a look at the semi official government site first.

Look into the ratings as well as the actual tests they performed for ratings.
ie Someone mentioned they would take the Britax Safe N Sound over the Mothers Choice.
Well from the testing, the Mothers Choice Victory is excellent in Booster mode compared to Safe N Sound Maxi ride in the areas of side impact protection.

We actually have both in our cars and I dont have a preference for easy of use or safety. Would by either one again if needed.

That said, just looking at the rating systems, it looks like the most safest way would be a convertible rear facing seat that goes from 0-12m -> 4yrs, then after that, a booster from 4-8.
