No way! EA not like to give us such a big games like NFS. For me Need For Speed Most Wanted for 2013 is worst NFS ever made, when you play the game you will understand.

    • +2

Im sorry but that title goes to The Run hands down!

      Also dont forget Rivals

      • What about Rivals , is good to me is like reborn Hot Pursuit but open world and fun. Ea NFS can't present new ideas for than reason we didn't see Need For Speed new game in pass year.

        • +1

There was a need for speed game released at the end of last year but it has no manual transmission option :(

        • I didnt mind Rivals but it really didnt bring anything to the series. Felt more like a cash grab to fall in line with a new console release.

Hot Pursuit was a great game. Was hoping EA would learn a lesson from Hot Pursuit and maybe go back to underground

        • @Agret:

I don't think many of the dumb milennials who would play this game even know what a manual transmission is…

        • +2

@britta: I'm downloading this now, keen to play multi?

        • +1

          @gtarone: Yeah buddy!

    • +2

yea, but its free bro. nothing to complain about lol

    • I find it to be the best NFS. This game was built for car enthusiasts. Audio is just orgasmic. Many people complain about the handling but don't even play 30 minutes in to unlock the lightweight kit or the short shifting transmission. SO many cars you can play with. How was it the worst?

    • EA not like to give us such a big games like NFS.

They gave away dragon age origins & battlefield 3? Those games are huge titles

    Price in title? i.e. FREE!

This wil not make up for the lack of Need for Speed 2015 on pc :'(

    • +1

Looks like the PC version will be Need for Speed 2016Q2. At least it will have an unlocked framerate and additional content…

  • +1

I got this free on Vita (which is a great version of the game) a cpuple of years ago, and now on PC. Very nice!

    Still waitibg for this DLC

  • Decent game, even more so at the cost!

  • Awesome, thanks op.

It has Origin in the title, so obviously not for Consoles. Unless you're a Mac user?

        Pick one. :P

        • +1

I'd pick a MacPro with boot camp for gaming (if I won lotto).

        • +2

@PainToad: You should just Build a 4x Titan X rig if you won the lotto with a Haswell-E

        • +2

          @PainToad:

have a much more powerful i7 4790k hackintosh than apple can offer for a sane price :)

        • +4

          @millusions:

MacPro would be more portable for my private jet.

        • @millusions: How much did your build cost to set up?

        • @albert0pia:

the 4k screen was most expensive component.
all up, i'd say around a conservative 1300-1400$

        • @millusions: Senpai, you wouldn't mind if I asked for your guidance in building a similar setup, would you? Thanks in advance.

        • +1

          @albert0pia:
sure. but be ready for some steep learning. it definitely chewed through some time at the start.
once you get the hang of it its not bad.
do you have access to a mac? real mac?

        • @millusions: No I don't. I need one to create a USB install disk, don't I? I've been meaning to embark on this project but I'm too lazy to work out what parts to get that are hackintosh-ready. Can I PM you fron here on out? Thanks

        • @albert0pia:

yes. sure. but you need a mac to make the installation usb.
that part is not optional , sorry

      • -5

Yes, I am a Mac user. I have no idea about Origin, never heard of it before as a gaming platform.

    • If you are a MAC user, have you tried using application "Wine"? I believe you can run windows application on MAC using Wine.

      • Its just a few words to add, so its not too much to ask. And they did say Please…

To vote down a request like this is just pedantic. Voted up to balance it out

        EDIT

@itsandhu I didnt mean you voted it down , I posted this under wrong subheading. Your comments are ok

        • +1

No, I didn't vote it down.

        • @itsandhu: thought i'd give you an upvote in case you needed the boost for your self-esteem :)

        • @shmahoo: Thanks, just made my day!
Did the same to boost your self-esteem!

      • Yep, tried most of the virtualisation apps. They are just too buggy :(

damn, I thought "BEER" would be better……

  • Title should specify Windows only.

Love the soundtrack, yea game is a tad disappointing, only get 4-5 races per car and is a boring grind when you upgrade a car you dont really like. Atleast the duds are funny little euro hatchbacks and not jeeps.

  • Great game, it's a classic.

  • +11

Too bad it's not the original Need for Speed: Most wanted 2005
That was actually fun when I was playing it years ago.

I accidently bought this game a while back thinking it was the original.. worst way to spend $7

Being free it's almost worth it

    • Awww man, here I was thinking that it WAS the 2005 one. Not sure I'm all that too keen to get it now :/

    • Very confusing that they would release two games with the exact same name

  • Origin is screwed for me after the latest update. Whenever I run it, nothing happens. I can't update it again since it won't even run so I can't get to the update phase.

My only option is to reinstall, and since there's no guarantee it won't do that again, I just haven't bothered.

    Anyone else get this problem?

    • +4

      remove it. etc.

to re-install games Origin is the worst thing about it, hate it.
      but here's what you do.
move the games to a safe directory or alternatively change the game directory in your fresh install.
when you have fresh origin up and running start the game install/download - to an empty directory make sure.
when the download gets to 1% kill origin using task manager.
copy or move game to download location.
      start origin.
      repeat for each game

they should really fix this stupid process.

btw. no. havent had any issues with origin like you describe and use it often.

      • Pausing the download and resuming it after copying also does it for me.

  • Great game, woo!

  • +1

Great game. The multiplayer is what kept it going for me. Gonna start a fresh game on a new account with this freebie. Already clocked over 1100 hours playtime racing noobs online :D

  • sweetness! downloaded! thanks OP!!

  • downloads origin, adds game, uninstalls origin.

I've played this game, to me it is not worth the download, but free is free :)

You can just add if logged into website.
No need to download the client.
      Works for me.

      • Cheers, will remember that in future.

      • how to add from website?

          @Lysander:

          Thanks!

  • I keep getting Origin games for cheap or free, but I don't bother installing or playing anything on there. It's either Steam or DRM-free for me.

Thanks, OP. I'll be doing the same with this one… add to library, then forget about it. I might play it once I get around to playing my 100+ unplayed games on Steam. :P

    • +1

I do the same thing with Steam.

  • Origin is really taking on Steam by offering AAA free games like this - something that I cannot recall Steam ever doing. I have Battlefield 3 and now Need For Speed Most Wanted in my Origin library that were both given away by Origin for free. Steam mostly distributes PC games, while Origin (EA) is also a developer & publisher so I suppose EA has more discretion to run free game promotions like this one. Well done to Origin, I say. Can anyone remember if/when Steam ever game away a comparable post-2010 AAA title for free?

    • Precisely that. EA owns the games they give away, Valve doesn't and can't unless the publisher/dev is willing to give it away.

But EA's selection of AAAs is a lot smaller than what is available on Steam. If they keep giving away these games, they'll eventually run out of stuff they can give.

    • This game isn't AAA, it's barely even an A. Also, it's an EA product which means by comparison to the cost of the ridiculous amounts of DLC; the price of the base game is nothing. There are 13 items listed under DLC ranging from $2.99 to $29.99.

The game is free, the content is not. Much the same as BF3.

    • +1

Valve have given away on Steam:

      • Portal
      • Left 4 Dead 2
      • Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad
      • PAYDAY: The Heist
      • Space Hack
      • Sniper Elite V2
      • Arma: Cold War Assault
      • Race The Sun
      • Fractured Space
      • Victory Command

EA have given away on Origin:

      • Dead Space
      • Plants vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition
      • Battlefield 3
      • Peggle
      • Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger
      • Bejeweled 3
      • Dragon Age: Origins
      • Crusader: No Remorse
      • SimCity 2000: Special Edition
      • Theme Hospital
      • Syndicate
      • Ultima 8 Gold Edition
      • Amazing Adventures The Caribbean Secret (Australia, France and New Zealand only)
      • Zuma's Revenge!
      • Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
      • Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge
      • Jade Empire: Special Edition
      • Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012 video game)

Steam giveaways were always 1-2 days though whereas Origin games last a few months so you get more chance to grab them.

      • +1

Interesting. Thanks for collating the lists.

  • Thanks OP.

Been looking for a used copy for my son on the Wii U and…this is even better.

Now I suspect I need to buy an Xbox controller with the USB cable so he can play it on the cheap Dell Signature Series laptop I bought (Thanks to this site too)??

  • This game is a great time killer on my vita! didnt believe it was FREE too…
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/173536

  • cheers, can't believe i missed this ^_^

  • Anyone tried playing this on onboard graphics? Got the CPU (i5), the ram (16GB), just been on my to-do list to get some sort of GPU lol

    • Plays ok, with res and graphics knocked down (not right down).

The whole 'spin the wheels to start the race' is just plain silly :/

      • It was made by Criterion, its basically a reskinned Burnout Paradise.

  • I can't even sign into my account with the password I've had for a while!

Password reset e-mails are so slow coming through they're expired when I try!

  • Doesn't Origin chuck spyware and shit on your computer?
