Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7" Wi-Fi White for $268 Delivered @ Futu Online eBay

CVALENTINE20

For those who missed last bargain

I bought one from the previous eBay 20%-off deal, back in Nov'15. I acknowledge the cons about the low screen res and average hardware, could easily get China ones with better specs in this price range. However, this is local stock and a-more-well-known brand.

I am using it for light browsing, photo viewing, videos watching, playing some android games, etc. Suffice to say it has not failed my expectation, especially with the big battery cap, it could last 7-8 hours of continuous video watching, youtube-ing and browsing from fully charged.

You could also claim TRS to get another 10%, plus don't forget further 2% from CashRewards

Refer to the original CVALENTINE20 eBay deal here

Couldn't agree more to that :). My consideration at the time was purely based on the price, size and brand (I paid $255.2 btw. Claim TRS which offset another $31.9). I really couldn't be bothered with other Chinese brand since it is intended to be given to my sister. And I know she wouldn't be happy with unknown brand to her.

    • It's a budget line. It's like Moto G, galaxy J etc etc if you wanna compare it to mobile phone lines. Personally think budget anything are worse value than discounted older flagships but that's me.

If you order from reputable OS company, I suggest Teclast X98 Plus around $280 express delivered. Best value tablet right now.

  • dont think u can claim TRS as it's under $300.

unless they changed the rules recently?

The disc is offered by eBay instead of the store. Based on my previous purchases on the same disc offered by ebay, the store provided me with full amount invoice. Same condition should apply here.

Apparently Futu Online is Shopping Express considering there is no product differentiation between the two (both resellers of IT/tech products) I am confused as to why two exist. There have been a fair few deals posted on here since the 20% off special and Futu seem to be reputable (one of the first to offer Woolies click & collect) but I don't really understand why they have two arms if both sell the same product, anyone with knowledge care to explain why there is a separation? http://stores.ebay.com.au/Shopping-Express-Outlet If there is a simple explanation that's good, just curious.

I know a friend that operates 4 online shops for the same inventory. Apparently the total products sold is better than just 1 online shop previously. Have not workout the overhead and other operating cost though.

      • Thanks for the response. Seems counter-intuitive; you would think by having one whole brand would be able to develop a larger customer base but I guess due to the vagaries of online people often compare between brands and if you are putting more brands out there you are creating a higher chance the customer will go for you (if you own 4 of the major 12 IT reseller brands there is a better chance of customer coming across the brand than if the company is consolidated in one larger entity with the market reduced to 9 brands and you only having one brand presence).

Initially I was thinking it could be to shift inventory in case one brand had a lot of bad customer feedback as a form of risk mitigation (reputational risk) but it does make sense that if you have more brands for your inventory that customers are more likely 'hit'; come across your brand and purchase with an illusion that there is greater choice between brands than there actually is.

Obviously with online overheads would be reduced and only outlay would be the effort it takes to register different brands, come up with logos assign staff but it really is like creating different teams within one brand anyway. It would make less sense if you were operating a bricks and mortar chain.
