how did you do that?
How? $60 for six years coverage? Doesn't the credit expire relatively quickly with Telstra. http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/prepaid/latestoffers/
Not possible. Even if you can select the 6month credit expiry. AFAIK sim cards also have an expiry date on them and they are usually 2 years.
I went with Planet ISP as a low usage mobile owner. You could achieve this them for $60 (or less!) but no chance with Telstra who are very expensive for ongoing usage in this situation.
Back in the day telstra used to NOT suck with their credit expiry.
My credit doesn't expire til 2015!
Excellent Deal!
Great for telstra mobile broadband
Allows you to buy 3 x $10 Plus Packs, which gives you 300mb
Care to provide more details? The catalogue page wasn't very enlightening. As I understand it's only a starter kit? How much usage do you get with it?
go to page 17 of the link above not clicking on the photo as that is last weeks catalogue
Yeah I saw that, but there were no details on page 17. I had to go to Telstra's website.
It's a $30 prepaid sim starter kit
Inside you get a sim card, with that sim card you get $30 worth of credit which is valid for 30 days
Ok, I see Telstra offers page. Can one choose the long life plan, i.e. get 6 months to use $30 worth of credit? I haven't looked at the rates yet. Providers don't make it easy to find this info.
No, the $30 on the card only lasts 30 days
If you recharge an additional $30 then that addition $30 will last 6 months
@kogi: Ok, thanks. I guess it would be useful for someone, say a tourist, wanting a temporary SIM. BTW, how easy is it for a visitor to activate a SIM? Do they have home address checks and that sort of thing?
@retiredfeline: You need to provide an address and some of ID to activate. I don't think they actually double check it after you enter your details though.
@kogi: Nooooo, the 30 dollars lasts up to 6, SIX months—after I called telstra, they were more than happy to fix it up from 30 days to 6 months. (I registered via the internet).=D
yeah starter kit means you have to register the sim to use the credit right?
yep, you need to sit on the phone with telstra… egh
you can do it online
orly? damn! that would have saved me registering 6 of them when they had the 1gb internet sim. :(
@Davo1111: That deal had to be done over the phone as it was activated as a 'broadband sim'.
Regular phone services can be done via interweb.
Can you stick this sim in a wireless broadband modem to access the internet?
yes you can, but you must phone up to register it as a broadband sim i recall (i done it last month)
thanks!
Is 6 months the longest expiry time you can recharge for wireless broadband use?
I already have a Telstra business call plan with data on my Nokia phone which I tether to my laptop but wouldnt mind getting one of these prepaids as a backup USB modem for ocassional use.
!@#$%^
Woolworths Eastgardens have no clue about this, says they don't sell
OK went back armed with a catalog
After a long search, they were on the shelf with the gift cards.
Oct 2012 expiry date
I'm thinking of switching to Telstra from Vodafone because I've got a 2G (EDGE) iPhone. Does Telstra have EDGE coverage? Vodafone doesn't have so when browsing the net it's using GPRS and it's really slow…
Yes, Telstra has EDGE coverage.
Yep, thanks for that I picked up 7 for 70 bucks. Not so bad, especially when you can activate it on the 6 month plan. XD
Gotta love this deal. I have 6 years and enough credit to last it on my phone for my (very low) needs for $60.
