        A hammer drill IS an impact drill. You're looking at impact DRIVER.

        Drills for holes, drivers for screws.

        Most people just use a drill for screws as well, but if you're doing a big job - like making a deck - an impact driver should be at the top of your shopping list.

        What you want to compare is an impact/hammer drill to an SDS/rotary drill. The latter is better in just about every way, but more expensive.

        @KentT: bits for sds are expensive too, especially for home jobs. If you don't really know what you need the I would recommend saving you money and buying an ozito, 3 year warranty and there nothing wrong with them.

        If you know you are enjoying drilling daily or want it to last a lifetime and then hand it on to you kids then spend more

      I wouldn't buy that.

      • A keyed chuck is an annoyance.
      • When you get up to those price levels you're better off looking at SDS drills.
