There was a celebrity chef on TV that hated spring form tins so he always advised to avoid them unless you want to make a mess inside your oven. Best use a regular tin with butter and flour so the cake batter doesnt stick to it.
If your mixure is not too runny and your crust thick enough it shouldn't leak. I know others that wrap foil around base if a recipe leaks and putting a tray underneath should stop messes.
+1 for wrapping in foil, and if you flip the base over inside you won't get the rim around the bottom and it's much easier to get out

Just got notification that the 2 tier cake stand is not available at my delivery store and I will be offered a refund. Footed cake stand available though.
