    I don't fully understand SurfStitch.
On 26/12 they had 40% off sale items (accidentally with no minimum spend) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227465
Then on 28/12 they had 25% off sale items https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227896
Now they have a minimum spend of $200 to receive 40% off.

It seems that these sales are in the wrong order

not too mention the change in prices to reflect the increase in discounts for those pas tsales. i will not buy from again

Disappointing on a couple of counts.

    1) We have seen these discounts from this retailer before without such massive minimum spend conditions.

    2) They have reportedly started doing a Dick (what practice DS and other retailers do when there is an eBay sale) and jack up the prices on "sale" items when running promotions.

Still no foul on the OP. I still am interested in buying from Surfstitch but for the above reasons will give it a pass.

Hopefully they rethink their strategy as I have ordered a few hundred dollars worth of goods in the past (over separate transactions as I can't afford such a big hit at once) and purchased gift cards.

These conditions put offside their key demo as most young people would love a 30 to 40% discount (and be willing to spend $50-70) on a couple of shirts and shorts but how many have a spare $150 - $200 lying about, especially after blowing a lot already on boxing day sales? And 25% off on inflated sale items isn't much of a deal…

It makes their key audience feel gypped on scoring the best deals. I understand the tiered promotions scheme is encouraging customers to spend more to receive bigger discounts but it is not a wise move for a youth focused clothes retailer like Surfstitch.

They might think mates would do a big order amongst themselves to score the 40% off but online shopping is highly individual and most people in their target market wouldn't consider grouping an order together.

    • remember you are only spending $120 not $200, as 40% off $200 = $120 :)

  • thanks, i purchased on boxing day with the 40% off…
have noticed one of my items dropped in price when they had 25% off…

still purchased today, as some items i wanted earlier, are now back in stock..

  • too bad they don't have anymore gshock watches in their sales section.

  • nabbed a few bargains for myself (5 tees and 1x5 pack socks) and future pressies (2 tees and 2x5 pack socks) for others… non-sale total was: $360, sale total was: $242, then after 40% discount total came to: $142
