  • I really didn't want to revoke my + for this deal but first things first the restaurants that I live two minute walk away were "closed" on the site so I ordered from a restaurant about a fifteen minute drive away (I had never ordered from and I really wanted a pizza from my local but just took it as thems the breaks). Then I waited 90 minutes for the pizza to arrive after given an estimate of 60 mins. Called Delivery hero then they contacted the restaurant said my order of one pizza and one garlic bread hadn't even started to be made. Did receive an offer of a credit refund or if I waited an extra hour a can of drink with my order. Pretty pathetic, I understand they are busy tonight and are understaffed relative to demand but I was starting to think the pizza for $23 dollars was pretty expensive in the first place and garlic bread for $7. So I'm hoping the order I placed at 6:50 will eventually arrive at 9:20 not banking on it though. Even if they are understaffed restaurant should alert customers when they receive orders of up to three hour delays. 60% of pizza restaurants were listed as closed at 6:30pm when I know for a fact they are open for walk in trade and phone order (11 restaurants were apparently closed which is a joke). Just took it they didn't want to take delivery hero orders tonight. Delivery Hero should penalise restaurants or take them off the site if they are going to be listed as closed when they are open for trade. The main problem with that is it places extra pressure on restaurants in the area. I have never used Delivery Hero before and I am starving. Yes it goes with the Territory if you get this discount there could be delays but customers should be offered a partial refund or 50% off their next order up to the same value. Instead I am offered a can of drink which is a slap in the face. Not a great first experience and I would have thought they would offer more incentives to new customers who have had a first bad experience.

At least with Dominos I know that if I skip lunch they will have my order to me in half an hour. Yes compared to a "premium joint" it is fast food but what will probably be a three hour wait for a pizza on an empty stomach with a can of drink as consolation is atrocious. Also $10 for a pizza and garlic bread is far less than the discounted $16-17.

I would drive there myself and pick it up but apparently the backlog is related to orders and they haven't started making most they received over an hour ago yet. I'm hoping this isn't a lie and they just forgot about my order or prioritized walk-ins when deliveries and walk-ins should receive equal priority.

It's 9:20 now so I'll ring them again if it hits 9:50 for my order. I really want a pizza tonight and I've already waited this long. I don't want my money back as credit and I refused the extra can of drink as a slap in the face.

Yeah - i try to use these things to order from establishments that i'm already familiar with.
Bit dodgy going with the unknown…

      • Delivery arrived at 9:35 was supposed to be "crusty traditional Ciabbatta Bread, with a homemade spread of Butter and Garlic". It was Dominos foil wrapped garlic bread not Ciabatta. Pizza was cold and pepperoni was burnt and crispy while other meat was chewy and didn't seem to be cooked properly. Two hour forty five minute wait. Not worth $16! At least I know not to order DH, at least from that place. Thought I would at least get an email offer, hopefully some apology in the next few days but doubt it. Each party was at fault IMO (the restaurant least so because even though they messed up the order and delivered it two hours late there were things each other party could have done).

        1) Restaurants in the area shouldn't be listed as "closed" when they are open. If they are "closed" DH should take them off the site or at least put a strike against them.

        2) When DH called up and found the order which was placed 90 minutes ago would be another hour (in my eyes) it would be reasonable to offer $15 off my next order as well or $15 in credit to my account. Not a can of drink or a credit refund.

        3) The restaurant in question if they had such a backlog when receiving my order should not have given an ETA of approx 60 minutes when it took 165 minutes. At least I would have known what I was in for and not waited an hour and a half before calling DH. Even though they messed up my garlic bread and pizza I could empathise with them as I did temp work for a pizza place once. I highly doubt they would make walk-ins wait nearly three hours for an order so believe they were prioritizing walk-ins. If they were so full at the very least confirm once payment had been placed that it would be such a long wait. I can only think a large amount of unexpected walk-ins arrived and they placed back my order in the queue.

Gee that's terrible, definitely email DH and complain, theyre usually pretty good with complaints (in my experience)

    • When I try somewhere new I always ring when I place the order to make sure they're with the program.

Even though it's a great deal it sucks to be 'stood up' by food services. I was stuck with cruskets + vegemite one time when my stuff never arrived. That was quite some time ago however, you'd expect places to be delivery hero savvy by now.

  • I saw this seriously seconds after I ordered from "Eat Now". I just ordered, thought, while my phone is out… I wonder what Oz bargain is doing!

Also… Just then, while typing, they tell me their driver is too busy tonight and I'm going to have to go and pick it up :(

    • Make sure you get the delivery fee refunded when you pick it up.

  • Got some food delivered. Thanks op.

  • Thanks OP, the coupon worked tonight which was a pleasant surprise (it's usually ozbargained)

  • be careful some restaurants say open but r actually closed as the idiots at deliveryhero hadnt updated times.
