cpu $275.00 from PC Case Gear
    hdd $74.99 from 25+ shops
dvdrw $19.00 from PC Case Gear
    ram $59.88 from 10+ shops
    mobo $119.00 from 2 shops
    win7 oem $34.83 from Play-Asia.com

$583 for parts at a quick look on google shopping (can be had much cheaper i'm certain, but i just had quick check for average prices)

be about 50 bucks for tower and PSU, doesnt matter what as its not for gaming. seems OK I guess. my advice would be if buying the parts buy a cheaper CPU, much cheaper.

case, PSU, (i know you say $50) so we are already looking at $630
then factor in time to build (or cost) and time going to multiple shops (potentialy) and you have to ask is it worth the saving.

Having said that I suspect this may not be the best deal if you don't need 6th gen cpu.

      EDIT:

      Found this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Intel-6th-Gen-Skylake-i5-6400-8GB…

      For $619.

From my local PC shop. But does not include OS cost not a fair compairson.

      • to be honest, a non-gaming PC everyone would be better off buying a laptop for cheaper or similar price and plugging in a monitor, keyboard and mouse to it.

then if you wanted to go elsewhere it's portable as well as being a desktop PC

  • That SFF case looks pretty decent - anyone have any idea what it might be?
