Apple AOC store is $3550, or Apple education is $3447 with the 6% topcashback current Cashback plus a free AirPods.

    • Thanks for your guidance. As I'm still learning the process, I appreciate your advice. I understand I need to do more research before posting deals.

      • While you were partying, he studied the bargain.

$3.5k and only 512GB storage, good to see Apple still ripping people off, even PS5 comes with more storage. In this day and age they should be offering 2TB storage minimum as a starting point.

    • +1

and the ps5 lets you chuck in extra storage yourself if you want ! :)

honestly, as an apple user for work, i agree these things are overpriced but if your argument is storage then this is not the battle for you.

For context, I've had my MBP M1 Pro since release and other than the odd hold up exporting out of premiere pro or opening multiple complex vector files in Illustrator it hasn't skipped a beat. Mine is a 500gb and I have 200gb free. I move my completed files to SSD's on the network and then back those up to a local SSD plugged into my monitor. I also back-up the rest of my MBP via TimeMachine to another SSD. There is almost no point having 2TB onboard unless you deal with huge files on the daily or you just refuse to back-up and organise a filing system.

my MBP runs near cool and the fan barely kicks in. Using it professionally i thought i'd be due to upgrade already but it'll hold out until the next chipset and still resell for a lot more than your 4yo Laptop though i'd probably keep it for personal use.

Let’s be real the Macbook is one hell of a machine that many people love to hate. For my work it’s absolutely amazing. The only critique one could make is the SSD size, which is fair, but also not surprised someone has chimed in with that as one of the first comments.

        To each their own. 🥳

Have a full blown 4080S & 7800x3d desktop with a C4 OLED and high end racing simulator for iRacing, so love my PC’s too, but MacBooks are King on the Laptop/Notebook scene and it’s not even close when talking a complete product! Bring on the downvotes lol.

If you go half full knowing that they will never offer large storage, I think the SSD space or lack thereof has taught me asset management which is where today i have various drives i send files to once the job is complete and then back-ups upon back-ups to ensure nothing gets lost.

Yeah haha i want to get into PC's but thats a whole different beast. Purely for sim racing as well lol. I just can't fathom the spare change needed to make that happen. I don't know much tbh but you go onto reddit and there are so many different views on what to and what not to invest in with regards to hardware. Then my eyes glaze over and then i end up on r/battlestations.

I think you have the right idea though, they both can 100% coexist without bandwagoning.

        • its king where? 90% of the office workers dont use one and dont need one either

      • Not enough storage on these base model Mac devices is still the case. My work M1 Pro has excessive write wear level. For non-Pro based devices, the base models 256GB SSDs do have bandwidth reduction. Anyway, deep down, we would love to have user upgradable SSDs on Macs. Imagine upgrading to a 4TB SSD on a Macbook Pro.

Resell value, the change of making 16GB RAM minimum has an impact on the resell values of older Apple Silicon Macs. For people like me who also have Intel based Macs, those pretty much have very little resell values.

        • haha circa 2009 unibody days. What an era.

I'm often amazed how forgiving people are when it comes to macs:

        • This M1 can only support a single external monitor. That's OK I can just buy one big one and donate my 3 monitor setup to some less fortunate PC pleb
        • This mac doesn't have an Esc key or F-keys and i use vim. That's ok I can map the capslock key to ESC and do this weird combo to compensate for the f-keys
        • This mac only has 8GB RAM. That's ok, mac is more efficient that Windows and Linux so it's like have 16 GB Windows RAM
        • This mac only has 256 GB storage and it is soldered in so if it fails I throw the device away. I am glad of this because it has taught me good backup hygene
        • This mac has an amazing iGPU but it doesn't run 32bit applications or support Vulkan under MacOS/Asahi - that's ok, I don't care about games

        vs

        • This PC only gives me 8 hours in battery. Unacceptable…how am I going to work 20hours straight on my holiday flight to Europe I take once in 5 years. I'm returning this
        • This PC has a bit of flex on the lid. What is this? I am returning this

you can easily bump it up to 2TB,

      fine print:
      for $2000 lol

      that's for like a $200 nvme

now that's true Apple Intelligence right there

      • +3

Yep. This is the biggest problem I have with Apple. The absolute piss take of charging customers exponentially more for the higher storage tiers than it costs them, just because they can.

        • absolutely

  • +3

    No thankyou, Apple

  • +1

    no deal cheaper through Apple.

  • Negging because this is not a deal, got this for $2,967 from Apple Education store with Airpods Pro 2 and Shopback's 7% cashback offer (tracked within a day) last week.

Having jumped between X1, XPS and MBP over the past few years, I think I prefer the Mac's longevity with updates and support despite the higher prices (most of the time).

    • Exactly why I m still with my 2012 macbook pro, just too scare to go back to windows laptops, but these new MB pro prices are so insane …

    • Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate your guidance as I'm still learning the posting process and understand the importance of thorough research.
