  • I would pay a bit more for local warranty.

    • It is included in the shopping express sale but not sure what's going on there.

    • I would pay a bit more for some other drive.

      https://techreport.com/review/29352/ocz-trion-100-and-crucia…

      • Interesting, always thought crucial is one of the more reliable brands up there with intel and samsung ssds.

        • +2

That review was just about the new TLC drives. Crucial's previous SSDs all use MLC which have been fine.

The natural expectation is for the newer drive to be an evolution and improvement of the one that came before. Alas, the BX200 is anything but. Its MLC-based predecessor is the far better drive.

  • so is this thing reliable or not? can someone confirm?

  • +1

what do you mean by reliable? The BX200 models don't get many good reviews compared to it's older line BX100.

    • I have a 1 tb and 2 2 500gb and they work great sorry mine are mx series

  • +1

This has been discussed before here The BX has in "inferior" chipset to the MX series and is sometimes referred to as "budget" grade.

Still waiting for a good deal on a 1TB MX…

    • Likewise. It's the next upgrade from my 250GB Samsung EVO although it doesn't have to be Crucial. I want to spend about ~$250 on a 1TB SSD.

Hopefully I won't have to wait that long.

  • is this any good for 2008 MacBook? I want to swap out the old HDD.

    • Yeah.. it will be ok for it. Considering the 2008 Macbook wont have spectacular SATA bus speeds anyway. This will most likely max that out. Its only a ho-hum type drive for the faster 6Gbps interfaces.

  • Been told to stay away from this model.. I got the previous 500GB BX100 model and works beautifully.. But stay away from the BX200 chips..

    • Any reason?

I have this chip and so far so good!

Have a look.. Has the worst score of the bunch. Yes, its quicker than a hard disk. Its quicker than a Kingston.. but compared to the others and even its own predecessor (BX100), it fails.

        • Sorry I misread the OP's post as the MX200. I picked up the 1TB MX200 for $AU336 delivered from Amazon a few months ago. Excellent drive.

      • Narrower bus on controller. They didnt use marvell . But you can't notice speed difference unless you have super gaming pc with latest chips and then you run ssd raid ….
