Kenwood 2din AV/BT/USB/DVD Receiver - $339 (with Code) @ SCA eBay Store

COLLECT15

Original eBay 15% off COLLECT15 deal

Great deal. I nabbed one with the 10% discount last week and thought that was a good deal…with 15% it's even better. Main seller for me was that it has an HDMI input so I can use my Rasp Pi w/openelec as an media player. You can also connect a mirrorcast adapter to it and display/control your android phone wirelessly on the unit.

  • How would this compare to:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/226121

if wanting to add a rear camera as well?

    • I think you're really paying extra for the HDMI/mirrorcast functionality…which is not available with most headunits at this price point. Pioneer/Alpine offer it on their top end models but they are close to $1k in price. Clarion has the VX404AU which has HDMI input but the UI is a bit laggy when I tried it at Autobarn.

If all you need is a 2DIN 6/2" receiver that Sony is a good deal…

any 2din display units will support a rear camera.

  • When the phone is connected to the HDMI input, will it play music through HDMI? I assume it would be uncompressed as HDMI should have enough bandwidth. I'm looking for a better sound quality than bluetooth. Thanks!

    • I would assume so…you'd need an MHL adapter though

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-Definition_Link

But in the end the quality is all dependant on the DAC on the playback device isn't it? I'm not an audiophile…maybe someone else can chime in.

      • Yes the DAC in my Note 3 is very good (as is usually the case with Samsung/Apple phones), but the sound quality through bluetooth is definitely lacking.

        • I'd say if you use MHL the quality would be pretty good…mirrorcast? hopefully better then BT…

        • HDMI is digital so I'm going to assume that the digital to analogue converter on your phone is not relevant in this scenario.
