  • Do these things have a universal mount or something? Never dealt with these before.
I have a 2012 Kia Carnival and it has crappy basic stereo in a 2 din space, so this deal got me wondering as I have a $100.00 gift card that expires next week.

If your car definitely has a normal 2din space, then yeah it should pop right in

      • Thanks mate.
Was worried about it being flush with the dash, mounting screw spots etc… Just trying to do an online search now actually.

There is probably a dash fascia kit you can buy on eBay for $50 or so, to make it flush with the double-din standard size.
I put a Pioneer Appradio3 in my RAV4 and spent a year with ~10mm gap around the edge of the head unit before I finally bought a fascia kit for it.

If it's definitely double DIN, it'll install with no issues, there's multiple holes on the sides of head units for different cars mounting brackets/a universal mounting cage if your car uses that.

If, however, it's bigger than double DIN, you'll need some sort of mounting kit specific to your car to cover up the gaps, etc.

  • How much are we looking at to get someone to install it?

    • I think around $80 from JBhifi

      • JB just quoted me $250 to install in a Triton.

Get yourself an Aeropro Harness, and try and tackle the installation yourself,
No cutting wires, soldering what so ever!

Yes - at $80 I would have got it installed. At $250 I will look elsewhere or do it myself.

        • Did you buy the headunit from them?

        • Looking into it, I called and asked what installation cost would be of their unit and that is what they told me.

  • Probably wouldn't recommend this headunit. It's pretty basic and i regret not getting a pioneer/jvc instead. Also mine kinda rattles a bit (could be because i run an aftermarket facia kit but i had a clarion in there before and it didn't).

  • How would this compare to:

    $60 more - worth it?
Wanting to add a rear camera.

    • The Kenwood has a HDMI input which can come in handy

I bought this unit last year and installed myself into a subuaru. Super easy, I bought a harness connector which made it easier, still had to solder 3 or 4 wires as it wasn't completely compatible.

Great unit for price, no issues with rattling.

I did also need a fascia kit to make it flush with dash, fits perfect. Fascia kit and harness bought on eBay for maybe 40.

Make sure you ground the hand-break wire, then you can watch DVD when driving

      • Or buy a parking brake bypass module.. saves extra wiring hassle as it wires in behind the head unit instead of down at the park brake (and some cars use electric park brakes now, so can be harder to find the right wire) but does add a few $$.

  • If you connect the hand break wire from the head unit straight into the ground wire, that will save you buying a hand break module.
