  Excuse my ignorance, but is there a difference between a wheel alignment and a balance & rotate?

    Alignment is Aligning the front axles straight, recommended if you hit a deep pothole or something that has caused the wheel to be forced and may have gone out of alignment.

    Balance I think is the Tyre pressure, balancing them according to the manufacturer guidelines.

    Tyre rotation is moving the tyres around.
    Eg. front tyres will be moved to the rear, I dont know exact reasons.

      Balance is putting weights on the wheels…. so they balance when they go round

      so alignment is only necessary on a as needed basis?
      What about balance and rotate? Recommended every 12 months? It usually is not a standard feature in a service is it?

        Usually when you rotate the tyres, or if you go over a huge pothole.
        I was shopping for a wheel alignment and wonder why there is a huge price difference between Peddlers (~150) and RAC/Kmart (~80)

        Rotate is good for tyre wear to get them to wear evenly.
        Eg- Swapping front to back and vice-versa or if they aren't directional tyres then just moving them around the vehicle.

        Some places will do it with a service (I normally do at home) but I guess it depends on the business.
