      • Springfield messaged me last night to say my order was ready to collect. Nothing about a recall.

    • I was at Masters Hawthorn VIC today (5 Jan 2016) and a staff member was taking three of them away. I asked where he was taking them to and he said that they were being recalled. I asked if there was an issue with the product as I had purchased a few just the other month and he said no, it was a legal issue and Masters was no longer allowed to sell that product.

      I initially thought that maybe Holman is suing them for copying their product or some reason like that but looking at the previous posts it may be more a contractual issue.

  • I received the same call this morning and they left a voicemail advising of a recall being the reason they couldn't fill the order and were refunding. Very strange given they had already called on 15/12 advising they simply run out of stock/oversold. I'll try and contact Master head office to confirm. If it isn't true, it's one thing to make a mistake with the overselling etc, but lying about it would be poor.

      likewise, anyone that did get one from masters, please let me know what manufacturer/distributor details you have listed on the box/manual.

      • Called Masters (1300337307) explained my order, initial phone oversold call I had, then today's call advising product recall. He spoke with the Everton Park - they confirmed that the product was unsafe and being recalled and that Masters had been advised by the manufacturer only this morning. They will be advising/recalling all customers who have purchased - though not 100% sure how they will do that and likely will be releasing recall information on their website. Those who have the product should be expecting Masters to contact them to return it and get a refund.

        He also spoke to his supervisor, who confirmed they had received the same email, under advice from the manufacturer, advising to destroy the product due to it being unsafe (didn't know the specifics of the safety concern). There was no offer of replacing it with a similar item (I did forget to ask).

        The guy on the phone was helpful, it seems the recall and the overselling issue is a coincidence. I'll be interested to see how they manage the recall/what the safety issue is.

          The product was not recalled for being unsafe, sorry if someone has given you this incorrect information. The product was recalled because Masters no longer has a contract with the supplier to sell it. If you had an order go through and the store has stock available you SHOULD NOT have your order cancelled.

        • Thanks for correcting that - though I am confused why there would be such differing information.

          To be fair, the person I spoke with from Masters (and what I subsequently wrote) explained all this quite clearly (safety recall under manufacturers advice and planned destruction of the recalled product - I forget the actual term used), and that he confirmed this with the store and his supervisor. I even mentioned I would post an update here so people would be informed and he was quite OK.

        • just checked the voicemail message from the store I got this morning, she said the reason my order will be cancelled and refunded was "Recall from the manufacturer… Masters wont be able to supply any to anyone."

          My Live chat with Masters below whereby they backflip on the issue. Eitherway, I am not getting the product and likely because the manufacturer kicked up a stick about devaluing their product.

          I originally purchased a couple of sets when they were $19 when I was in store. What is the recall issue as I cannot find any information on it? The two I bought now sit proudly on my patio wall. Should they be taken down?

          IMO - the whole thing is a bit of a debacle and raises questions around their honesty. Either way it's clear I wont be getting them either, and I'll be sticking with Bunnings here on in.

        • @achay: I think what they're trying to avoid saying here is: We oversold the clearance stock and no longer have a contract with the supplier to meet our obligations.

          Got my 6 from Richlands no issues. Heading out to Springfield now for the next 6.

          And got the 6 from Springfield no issues. So much for a recall

          Perhaps ask them why others were able to collect from Brisbane stores last night (I grabbed 6 from Richlands and 6 from Springfield).

    I picked up my 2 from Springfield yesterday with no issue. No mention of a recall. The only comment that was made was that I paid a third of what Masters had paid for them.

    I picked up 2 last night (21/12), in QLD, that I ordered 5 days earlier (16/12). Had been sitting under the front counter all that time, waiting for me.

  • I ordered 6 on the 15/12/15 from Chullora as click and collect. Masters called me and said only 4 in stock would I like them I said yes and was told I would be refunded for the other 2. Refund came through on the 30th and I went to pick up on the 1/1/16 and was told they could not find my order. Waited for over an hour whilst they searched the store and was told product was recalled and they had to send back to manufacture. I noticed there was one unit in their click and collect cage and asked what about that one and girl grabbed it and walked into managers office with it. A manager, well I think he was eventually came out and said sorry product was recalled we will try and sort a solution and I have not heard back since. Great customer service staff probably bought themselves! Said they would call on Monday and no call yet.
