Ditto on the Americans. Real top quality TV that starts out great and gets even better with every season. I think it's been a bit under the radar, at least in Australia.
EDIT: Don't forget Fargo, one of my favourite shows ever! Not for the faint-hearted though :)
I have this on DVD (picked up cheaply secondhand) but have yet to watch it. Have a list as long as my arm, so many shows, so little time.
At least they're still showing The Americans on free-to-air (albiet late). So stupid there's no Blu Ray release for seasons 2 and 3.
Yeah, I wonder why given that it actually has quite a following in the US and is not available on Netflix.
I've all but given up watching or recording free-to-air as I hate seeing quality shows like this in Standard Definition in this day and age. They look barely watchable stretched to the size of my 65" Panasonic plasma.
I feel that we got conned into buying 1080p TVs years ago, and don't get me started on the current 4k craze (unless you have NBN or getting it soon).
Don't want to be off-topic & out to date but if you look for another TV show I can reccomend The Wire (Very realistic almost mistakenly think as documentary) & The Sopranos.
Last Man of Earth the movie version is also great.
is there a way to browse all free / discounted movies / tv episodes? I'm new to google play.
Fail.should have checked the link.
This is the free tv episodes one.
https://play.google.com/store/movies/collection/topselling_f…Awesome, thanks. Is there a similar link to check out free movie titles should they appear too?
Yep.
Just keep an eye out on OzBargain.
No free movies showing up on my phone :-(
Sorry just go to the play store movies section and in the search box write free movies.
@Agret: that doesn't work either
Movie link doesn't working for me either: "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server." And searching for "free movies" only brings up Free Willy and Free Birds.
Saw a couple episodes of Tyrant, seems good, haven't got the time to finish them tho.
Scream Queens is a pretty good comedy, ridiculous and over the top but entertaining nonetheless.
Any way to watch these on Apple TV without using AirPlay?
All in HD, thanks TA.
Cheers. Title adjusted.
Fargo season 1 was an absolute delight.
I hear season 2 is just as good. Haven't watched it myself yet though.
season 2 is even better. Definitely recommended.
Wouldn't miss it for the world. Will binge :)
Matter of opinion, season 1 is way better, it encapsulates the spirit of the original Fargo movie. I do like S2 but no where near as good as S1
I'll recommend Wayward Pines - had me guessing and scratching my head wondering wtf was going on all the way through it, NOT your average TV. It's Twin Peaks weird and will be interesting to see where season 2 takes it.
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll is brilliant comedy, Dennis Leary and supporting cast are great and had many laugh out loud moments in it for me, I binge watched it in 2 weeks (binge for me at least) and was left wanting more, the characters had grown to be like close friends.
The Last Man on Earth I was ho-hum through the first few episodes as basically it's about a man who isn't likable at all, but then it's stated to grow on me, even if there is some ham acting (or maybe it's just the character when he's being so 'false' about himself). I'm almost at the end of season 2 and enjoying it more and more.
Awesome.
Thanks TA, nice freebies!!
I can only see the 1st episode (pilot) of each series available for free. Am I missing something? (new to Google Play)
Is it possible to download these episodes from Google play on my desktop then transfer to my iPhone or to my missus android?
Yes, quite easy
Cheers - realised also that its only the first episode so wont be bothered to do it atm. Thanks though!
I can 100% recommend the americans to everyone. Homeland is also good (at least this season).
