the market is flooded with fake Xiaomi products

Xiaomi is one of the biggest selling brands in the world, perhaps before making stupid comments you should have at least some clue of what it is you're talking nonsense about

Xiaomi has two phones in the worlds top 10 best selling phones actually

@Makoto: Palsonic sell fairly well too. Doesn't infer anything else.

@bazzaa: Xiaomi products might be cheap but calling them 'cheap knockoffs' does a disservice to the respectable quality of their products. Look up a review for the Note 2.

    • There is a upgraded Redmi Note 2 Prime, this is the original.

  • Avoid this seller. Zero warranty, despite why they may claim.

  • Recently purchased one from Everbuying and when it turned up with Miui 7 I thought I had dodged a bullet as wouldn't have to upgrade it from 6, however a week later person I got it for is complaining about apps installing themselves. Not sure if it's because the default browser or some other malware, but definitely wasn't clean.

    • Chinese sellers often put their own crap on the phones they sell. Always fastboot flash the latest official rom direct from Xiaomi website.

  • Xiaomi does not license these for use in Australia yet. therefore they don't provide warranty the phones/owners here. I contacted them direct for a replacement camera, they would not post here either, even if I paid for it. I ended up finding a seller on Ali express who found me one. that being said they are awesome phones. At the price well worth the chance. My family almost exclusively uses them. with only one with a faulty camera. but to be fair I brought that in a dodgy market in Indonesia for an unbelievably cheap price….

No 700mhz support …. so limited 4G, why can't the chinese make phones with broader 4G coverage …… a 3 year old apple phone already has world wide 4G bands ……. apple just do one global model.
Even a $63 ZTE has better 4G coverage.

Even my old samsung S5 has full 4G bands for asia and Europe.

With bloatware …… sellers get paid by the advertisers / app owners to load …… advertising is what android is about so why surprised, only nexus comes with generic clean android.

Only appeal from these phones is a big screen, which isn't much use if downloads are slow.

  • This isn't a great deal. About 2 months ago I got the Redmi Note 2 Prime (32GB model) for AU$223 shipped. Shop around and you will get the bigger memory version for similar price.

  • Been looking for a phone with these sort of specs but not sure about Nextbuying. Had a look around and ended up ordering from eGlobal for AUD$193 delivered (used $5 off code WELCOME). Should have it for Xmas and I think eGlobal will be more reliable if there's a warranty issue.

    • Nextbuying support 1 year warranty

      • No, you don't

        • Can you link or describe your situation? I think it would benefit others here

        • @Jackson:
Ordered a Note 4G, received with a faulty USB port (would charge, but not connect to computer or OTG). Despite me providing the seller with endless proof (adb logs, system logs [on Linux] and Device Manager screenshots [on Windows]) they refused to acknowledge the problem. Even going as far as to claim the device doesn't support OTG, despite this being listed as a feature on both Xiaomi's and Nextbuying's sites.

They then didn't respond to any PayPal dispute communication. PayPal did eventually rule in my favour. But couldn't be bothered (and paying for) shipping back to the untrustworthy seller, so moved on. But I will ensure I let as many people known about the experience.

        • @PainToad: definitely worth advising people of that experience but I understand that after you tell a few people you could be over it.

At least if someone does buy from them they will know what to expect and maybe just do the minimum rather than the over servicing that you were trying to do as an honest customer. With the PayPal ruling did that mean you could send it back and they would fix or replace it? If you sent it and got nothing would they have refunded you?

        • @Jackson:
PayPal advised if I sent it back, I would get a refund. I just didn't trust the seller to confirm receiving the product at that point. Even with tracking, the seller could claim I sent an empty box. May be I was being paranoid at this point, but that's where the experience left me.

        • @PainToad: No fair enough, but did PayPal have anything to say about that?

        • @Jackson:
Didn't ask, by this point the process had taken over a month and I was fed up and accepted the faulty phone.

        • @PainToad: Fair enough, I am trying to think of how painful that problem is and if it would be a deal breaker for me. I usually dump my photos and videos via mass storage connection but I know there's a few cloud services that could be used, and you can probably also save them to an sd and plug that in instead. Maybe the work at round isn't that bad.

my eglobal phone arrived today…. just getting ready to load the global rom from the xioami web site …. a lot of phone for under $200. I would love to see their product on retail shelves in Australia I think they would do well if they supported 700mhz.

  • wow….. that's a lot of phone for little money….. mine arrived today …… only downside is it doesn't support our 700mhz bands….. if they fixed that this phone would really take off, so 4 G isn't as good as my Samsung s5 or Telstra buzz….. but otherwise it's a great phone for under $200. I also like the way they have a clean global rom on their website if you live outside China .

    • Redmi note 2 fdd lte price this time only US$144.98 + DHL cost on Nextbuying

  • Ordered mine on Thursday night at 10pm from eGlobal and it arrived Monday morning. Looks like it already had the global rom but lots of chinese apps that were easily removed and loaded down the standard google apps from the play store. Really happy with this phone, excellent value. 4G is Brisbane was 40Mbs which is awesome.
