I laughed at "today only", considering how often Dick does deals… thanks for including the exclusions though!

  • +4

The inclusion list would be more useful, and it's much shorter as well.

  • +6

Isn't it funny that the more you spend the less the discount is.. $10 off $49(20%), $30 off $149(20%), $60 off $499(12&), $100 off $999(10%)…

    • +9

But if you spend a couple hundred million, you can get 70% off.

      • I'll take three!

      • +1

        Yep, shares really crashed.

  • +1

Thanks OP, got some eneloops :)

  • +2

Quick support them before their share price drops further!

    • +1

We should support "share price drops further", so we can get some DS shares at Oz Bargain price.

  • +1

'Excludes almost everything that's sought after during holiday/Christmas season'. What a dick!

    • +1

      Reflect in their share price.

Consumers are more savvy than DSE would like… a big "SALE" after price inflation does not drive sales…

  • +3

DSE spams should be banned from ozbargain, and only allow particular deal/s (the actual item) to be posted.

    • +1

You never know what people actually want so sometimes these deals are better than listing 1000's of separate deals.

      • +1

Agree… but DSE "sales" are by far the worst spam on ozbargain.

        • +1

Agree with this, but having said that I have benefited so many times when DSE "spam" has been posted on ozb! So I can't complain

  • +3

How come their shares are down 50% but we only get 10%

    :)

    • +1

Their shares are down 50% because we're only getting 10% off their ridiculously high margins — and not buying anything because there's no perceived value from a sale every day.

If they moved more stock (at higher percent off) and actually met their earnings/revenue target their shares could be up!

    Exclusions list:

    Offer excludes offer.

    • +2

The exclusions trigger my search alerts every time :/

  • The code works on Kindles but still nothing amazing of a price.

Did have to laugh that they're promoting $198 (a full $1 off) as a 'SUPER DEAL - Online Exclusive Offer - Offer ends today!'

  • +1

Excluding everything under the sun. No wonder Dicko's shares are plunging!!

  • +1

Won't be long before DickSmith itself is excluded from any investment funds out there.

  • If this article is anything to go by, we should start seeing apple included in these deals

    http://www.theage.com.au/it-pro/dick-smith-backs-away-from-p…

    • Skeptical about big discounts on Apple products as I'm sure Apple won't allow it.

      • They don't but the point for DSE is that they do a discount and get people through the door - a good old fashioned loss leader.

I think they are done though, their limited brands and confused proposition (rc toys/electronics/home entertainment/are they or are they not doing video games) and there are just so many people doing it all better…

        • Wouldn't surprise me if they close their doors by end of financial year or move to perhaps an online only business model.

        • @Firey1989:

Yeah, something drastic will happen - but not sure it will be online as apparently they only do 8% online and the other 92% in stores!

I think it's a case of if someone comes in and buys the brand/real estate….they are in trouble

  • Where's the deal? Op, what products specifically?

Thanks for posting the codes but as per guidelines you might also have to post products that are cheaper now because of these codes

  • +3

I'm holding out for the liquidation sale. Should be able to get some proper deals then.

    • I am sure even in that sale there will be big list of "Exclusions". Its dick smith after all.

Went to Dicksmith, JB Hifi, Officeworks, and Harvey Norman to look at computers the other day. "

Looking at laptops online, its quite a bit of difference feeling their cheap plastic casings in real life…

Harvey Norman seemed more focused on selling extra warranties on their products and also pushing 3 years interest free, than talking about computers. And when I told one guy I was looking at an entry level laptop, sub $800, I'm not sure why he then shows me a $3.5k ultrabook… 2/10

JB Hifi people were super busy but happy to actually talk about their laptops and how they might suit my requirements. 9/10

Dick Smith staff were huddled in a corner hanging out talking to themselves, and ignored me completely. 0/10

I didn't spend enough time in Officeworks to really engage with staff, but their 5% price match is like their secret staff member.

When any customer can purchase cheaper online you need to make the most of your competitive advantage - which is having real people on the floor able to talk about your requirements.

Dick Smith have loads of inventory they can't shift because they can't motivate their staff to want to talk to people.

Don't be so hard on dick. At least sodastream refills are cheap.
