Dick Smith Clearance: Nikon D3200 Body & Twin Lens Kit $248, Canon 700D Body & Twin Lens Kit $299 (after $100 Cashback) + More

4150

This is huge guys! Available in-store only nationally from 9am today. May have something to do with yesterday's massive share price drop. Unfortunately, I have no idea on stock levels, but hopefully you'll be able to snag what you want. Will try to upload a receipt later for you. Good luck!

Seems these prices may apply to David Jones (powered by DSE) as well. See the comment from paleorama. If prices aren't advertised in-store, ask at the counter. The Canon is tagged at $999 but scans at $399, plus you get a $100 cashback by redemption.

    • I saw GT6 as well different store but didn't go for it. Was marked as $20 maybe to $10 still not good though the game itself

  • +1

They also have original Ipad Air and Ipad Mini Smart Cover for $5. For extra special, the Green Color Ipad Mini cover is $1.

  • They also have a 54.5" dick smith TV for $209.

My most humble apologies to all 35 poor folk who phoned the Bribie Island DS store this morning, one minute after me at 9:01am, clammering for the last 700D twin lens kit in Qld. I paid $199. Ya snooze ya lose, peeps! ;-D

    • +1

How'd you get that for 199?

      • -1

maybe a dicky staff with a staff discount? which explains how he got it before anyone else…?!

        • +3

stop hating on dick smith staff, they are allowed to purchase items whenever they want as of today at lunch time, and there is no staff discount below retail price (thats just common sense…)

I had a great experience with staff members today at 2 stores looking up various prices and such, not everyone is bad

i got two tv's for about $1000 off and it was already 1pm.

        • @endlless: Indeed mate.. The DSmith staff member I had serve me today was an exemplary human being. Superb at his job too.

      • -1

@Zaychri; I was fortunate enough to have had a $200 DSmith voucher bought for me by my generous Mother-In-Law, so that brought the $399 price down to $199 in real terms for me. The downside is I now have to take photos of my wisened old mother-in-law and photoshop the life out of the photos to make her think she really does look that youthful, in appreciation of her extreme generosity. :-)

        • +2

So it still cost $399 then?

Well I bought an ultimate Harmony remote for $1 cause my wife gave me the other $99

        • @flashi007: haha nice one.

        • I wish your mother in law is here to see your comment. God bless both of you.

    • That's Crazy… $99 after Cashback ??

Or buy some Cannon $200 and get it Free after $200 Cashback

while in DSE Glendale, I overheard an employee say to his friends who were in the store that he purchased a PS4 for $299, Canon DSLR Camera for $399 and more. Less for OzBarginers and more for DSE employees. Not Cool !

    • I'd say this would have been rife.

    • +2

If the staff are buying 1 item of each for their own personal use - nothing wrong with that - it would be unfair for them to be excluded from buying/paying what Joe Bloggs can walk in of the street and pay.

Stocking up on multiples to sell at a profit - that would be no good..

      • Someone posted earlier saying the staff received an email from hq that they are not to hold stuff for themselves until Monday. Not sure how true that is

        • If you aware the job is going, going, gone. Do you still care what hq said ?

  • Picked up Evil Within and NBA 2k15 for PC from DSE Springvale. These stores seem to have excess stock of AAA shovelware (COD Ghosts, Sims 3 etc.)

    • Hey mate was there much else left at Springvale store? PC accessories?

      • +1

Not really, the central table was just 360/PS4 stock. I didn't see much for PC accessories, was hoping for some though. However the store seemed more organised than others so perhaps more stock will come out tomorrow. I know games are limited - all I saw left for PC as Sims 3, Starcraft HotS (which I might pick up tomorrow…. cheap expansion if any stock is available), Medal of Honor Warfighter.

Could be slim pickings at all stores at this stage.

  • Picked up PS3 GTA V, Bioshock and Diablo 3 Total $30
Told all Tv's instore were click an collect sold
Mates rates takes 24hr+ to join and $10 back from this purchase
$100 needed min to get 10% Coles gift cards

  • Anyone who has a Canon 700d, can you tell me, if your looking at the screen, not the viewfinder and it's say a dimly lit room, does the screen flicker a bit? In a lot of light it seems fine, just flickers in low light.

Ps, I'm pretty happy with this display model, it looks totally unmarked and half of the stuff inside hasn't been opened at all. A steal for 279 for a twin lens kit.

    • Probably just happens around fluros due to sync/out of sync with screen refresh rate.

      • Hope so as I don't want to deal with warranty so soon. I used my note 5 galaxy as a comparison and it didn't flicker in same situation.

        • I have seen this effect on cameras before.
I am sure it is due to refresh rate. I expect your Note has a different rate and a higher quality screen. Anyway, if it looks like bands rolling up or down but only around fluros in low light, it is the same as what I am describing.
IE dont worry, it's normal :)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I personally do not think that there is anything wrong for DSE staff to buy an item or 2 of each product(s) for their own consumption. Why should they be penalised working for working at DSE? If anything, I'd say good on them for snagging a bargain or 2 given that majority of retail staff tend to be quite low on job related perks. However, staff members who abused their privilege by hording trolley load of products should be flamed :).

From reading some of the comments, I'd say that those who are complaining are more of a case of 'sour grapes' or a sense of perceived entitlement "Oh a bargain, I should be entitled to it and will throw tantrum like a baby if I didn't get any!". Some of you seriously need to grow up.

    • -2

do not think that there is anything wrong for DSE staff to buy an item or 2 of each product(s) for their own consumption

Because DSE is open for customers not for their own staff and they don't have the rights to get the good stuffs and leave the bad for customers. Also it will give a very bad image for the company, think if you are the boss and what is the point for the boss to do that?

      • Rubbish. Staff are people too. They deserve bargains just like anyone else.

        • -1

You will not say that if you are the boss.

I understand how you think as a staff but as the BOSS I don't think so.

        • @superforever:

I have been the boss before and I would say the same thing. Treat your staff well and they'd treat the business well. Only retards would make clearance items "Customer only" as you suggested. There's a good reason why they're called clearance. They're clearing them out, it doesn't matter who buys them as long as someone does.

        • @ryolo:

Understand that if the staff behaviour themselves nicely only take some that they really want.

They are so busy in the past few days they should take some rewards.

  • Bit late to the party but wife managed to snag last 700D in Perth stores.

There was only the display dual lens kit left which she got for $248 as it was display stock.

Note - This was on Tuesday

  • was chatting to an employee who was on lunch break and was told that someone held a bunch of stuff for a mate totaling $1300 lol

    • Last incentive for them, I guess.

  • Hi guys, anyone got the Sony hx60. Could you please give me a copy of the receipt.

  • +1

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread. I've just popped into dick smith at arndale, SA.

They have 3 harmony ultimate remotes (I just bought one)

They also have a bunch of xbone, ps4, PS3 and 360 games
Xbone - minecraft, evil within, lots of nba 2k15, call of duty (I think)
PS4 - at least 20 last of us, nba 2k, evil within
PS3 - borderlands pre sequel, rayman, COD GHOSTS, battlefield 4
    360 - ghosts, battlefield 3 and 4, minecraft (I think)
    Also about 10 PC games

There are 4 gaming bins out the front but check the gaming shelves at the back of the shop.

No cheap PS4's and no cameras.

  • Hi, can anyone please share their spare Mates Rates coupon with me, I am going out shopping tomorrow and I asked DickSmith about my coupon code and they said it will sent to me on Monday which will be useless for me. I will return the favour on Monday. Thanks

  • Looking at gumtree and the amount of Canon 700D's that are up there makes me laugh. Sureley these people will know the market will be flooded

  • Oh wtf I missed this deal, need a dslr. Do you think theyll have another one of these sales?? :'(

    • I'd love to give you hope and say yes or maybe, but 100% nope. I can live with people making a little profit, but not charging normal price. Ah well.

It was up two days before it was advertised on radio and TV, so it was mostly people on here getting the really good stuff for cheap.
