  • I wonder why Virgin got Tiger to take over these routes but not the BNE/SYD to DPS routes?

TA when I click on this deal it says MEL-DPS is actually $139 with 200 seats for the travel period of 03 apr 16 - 24 apr 16.

    yeah $139 over $99.20 back

    and it says
"All flights listed above are operated by Virgin Australia International providing a Tigerair Australia
service and are subject to regulatory approval".

  • I needed to go during school holidays (wife is a teacher).
Going their with AirAsia, return with Tiger. One check in 20kg bag each way.
With all fees (paid with credit card for insurance) = $407.70 per person.
    Not bad for during holidays.

  • Any travel insurance experts here? The Bali volcanic ash cloud "we wont cover you if you didnt buy defore x date" warnings are still on most of the travel insurance sites. Anyone know if I would be covered if i purchased cover now for a march trip - surely if it stirs things up again in march they cant call it foreseeable?

Just shot an email off to TID to clarify - will let you know if they respond.

I spoke to CBA credit card/Allianz today about the Ash Cloud. I'm going next week (booked 2 weeks ago). Flying with Virgin, paid about $500 return from Melb which I think is a pretty good price.

As the Ash Cloud is still a listed event according to the Aust Gov Travel advisory website, it's a known event and therefore you won't be covered for flight cancellations/delays UNTIL the Ash Cloud warning is removed from the Aust Gov Travel advisory website .

Once it's removed, it's all good and you'll be covered. Even if the Volcano erupts again you'll be covered, the reason for this is because any new Ash Cloud would be considered a separate new event.

Note, just because flights have resumed, don't assume the Ash Cloud has stopped.

I feel like the word "Return" in the title isn't big enough. Almost overlooked this as it's close to one-way SEA prices.

    • Ah that explains it. Must be Friday, I didn't even see that lol.

I used JetStar Price Beat for 4/4 to 9/4 for myself and 2 mates.

The TigerAirways $139 Mel to Bali was gone, but there was an AirAsia for $199.

The return $99 was still available.

Somehow, when the price matching happened, I got charged $196.40 return per person. I'm thanking the gods, TightArse, and JetStar Price Beat!

Wouldnt fly Virgin or Jetstar to Bali at the moment. Cant be assured that you will get home again. At least Air Asia flies whenever the airport is open.

  • cant find any flights to Bali in March..? :(
