Hey guys,
So im looking to purchase the lumia 950, but for $999 in AUS i was looking elsewhere. I found it at bhp video for preorder for the dual sim (not sure why you need 2 sims) for $549US + $17US postage which brings it to around $800AUD. Around a saving of $200.
Only catch is this is a preorder and im not sure what the ETA is, i would say around 20th of December (released in australia on the 8th).
Suitable to 4g here in OZ. Comes in black or White and can get the 950xl.

    • The old wp7 ones you mean?

The matte polycarbonate type… looked decent for there time but would have prefered a recessed screen or slightly different to the original.

  • +1

So many times have I seen the hardware specs of a WP phone yet for some reason only to be disappointed by the handling of the complete package.

If there is a true windows based mobile that will run everything as a desktop then that's the day I'm interested, as for now my laptop and Android handset do it fine but would like to have both rolled into one.
But again I yo want a keyboard, mouse and monitor where ever you go you either need to take one or take a laptop.

  • I am running w8.1 on 735. Anyway of upgrading to w10 yet? Or should I at this point?

      • Have you? You think it's worth it? Or just wait for official release?

        • I chucked it on my 432 just to see what it was like. I have so many windows phones. Windows 10 is really nice on the phone but its not compete, wait a month for the official release.

        • @TheGMan: Cheers mate

  • 1/2.4" sensor is the largest sensor on a phone that I have seen.

    • Ehhh that's actually pretty common these days

Same as Moto X Style, smaller than Nexus 6P.

Sensor is only 1 aspect of great smart phone photography - a lot of it is software optimisation, which explains how apple devices are still some of the best despite on paper having smaller sensors, no OIS etc.

    • Nokia 808 Pureview: 1/1.2”
      Nokia 1020: 1/1.5"

      maybe you've never seen Nokia phones… ;)

      • Last Nokia was a Nokia 5110.

  • The US variant won't be fully compatible with all the 4G bands we have here.

Dual-SIM capability doesn't add much value in Australia because the current crop of dual-SIM devices only do 2G on the 2nd SIM.

  • Review:
    http://www.theverge.com/2015/11/20/9767266/microsoft-lumia-9…

    TLDR:
Not worth it compared to a Lumia 640 or an android/ios flagship. Overpriced without the app ecosystem to back it up
Continuum is overrated in its current state, with only niche usefulness
Windows phone has no/poor quality apps
OS is fine and smooth if you don't care about apps, but then just buy a $200 Lumia 640…

    • Considering The verge have quite the bias against windows phone, it's hard to take their review too serious. Though there are still points other sites agree on.
