Was shopping for a 13.3" laptop when I came across this. It's already on sale on dicksmith right now till the 17th but there's an addition today-only promo for another $100 off (http://www.dicksmith.com.au/promotion-terms-and-conditions).

On the HP website, a similar model is $2400 (http://h20386.www2.hp.com/AustraliaStore/Merch/Product.aspx?…). As far as I can tell, the only difference is the DS one is FHD and this one is QHD. (To save $700, I'm happy to settle for FHD). Other websites that I've found this model on are also around $2k.

The new HP Envy 13 series was only released last month and I can't find reviews yet so caveat emptor! Its specs rival the Dell XPS 13 range though (http://www.dell.com/au/p/deals/popular-laptop-deals), which is what I was considering till I found this.

  Say what? This one is QHD, and is the DS one. Good find. Perfect for Photoshop. Also, if you get the "mates rates" emails from DS, take another 10% off today only.

  The 20% off HP laptops over $500 should bring the price to $1,599. Unless it is part of the exclusion list.

  That promo is available every 2-3 catalogs.

  The HP Envy 13-d006TU is the lower specced laptop, but with same screen. 128gb ssd, i5, 4gb ram (instead of 512 ssd, i7, 8gb Ram). The lower spec laptop is $1,279 (Save $320) and you would still get the $100 off. All on Dick Smith.
  Not sure about Pielo's 20% off HP laptops though. How does that work?

      I would like to hope more manufacturers will follow the reduced property surrounding the screen. The XPS has 13" screen in almost 13" laptop, while my current Lenovo has 14" screen in 16" laptop, and I can feel the size when on the go. They should be also be more innovative with location and design of a laptop webcam.

  It wont be getting much better than that.
