If you don't have a 'smart' meter, then this is probably as good a way to go as any. For a number of years I used a Wattson with a number of clamps to measure my power usage (I have three phase so needed more). I liked it, and the accuracy was 'good enough', but have not looked back since I had the smart meter installed. Can see my current (so to speak) and historical usage info on the utility provider website. I also use a Rainforest raven usb key plugged into a raspberry pi to feed usage into pvoutput, and solar is fed in via a separate script.

    • Your setup 'sounds' pretty good.
For the people who don't know, you need a smart meter (VIC) for the Rainforest energy meters.

I had my PV solar installed last week and the house still has the old spindle meter, I'm waiting for Energex to do their thing ((leave it as is or replace with a smart (yuk) meter))
