You can do better than this. By getting a Sanyo or Toshiba with internal HD tuner. They are so much more convenient than having an external STB.

I was seriously thinking about buying this item so I rang Panasonic, just as well I did as there is one very important piece of information not mentioned; it doesn't have speakers. While this is not an insurmountable problem as it could be easily hooked up to a home theatre system or even a basic amp and speakers, I think it is misleading of the seller not to mention this in their ad.

Not sure who you talked to, but this model definitely has speakers. They're not the best speakers in the world, but this panel does have them.
Before anyone starts screaming about no HD tuner inbuilt and non-HD, I believe these units are commercial grade panels which typically do not need or have HD tuners.
The specs are pretty basic, yes. For consumers there are few benefits to a TV like this. But it is a good deal - there are plenty of stores doing it for $1000+ without HD STB.
