        • @Trantor: Great to know! My rep told me to look for one in Optus store, but I guess like you said, there would be none. I probably will order one from Google Store as well and let them to reimburse me.

        • +1

Just got a call from Optus: they have noticed that some of their customers did not receive the cases and earphones, so they will dispatch their missing products to us next week.

  • +1

Just bought the nexus 6p with a $30 plan from Virgin mobile in person, it comes with a clear case from Huawei (not that great quality, quite thin) and earphones too. You can cancel the plan after a month and just pay off the remainder of the phone.

  • Whats the best way to cancel the contract best to do it in store?

Edit: I have mine also its amazing really impressed

  • Got to ask the Optus support and you'll get a total warranty of 24months.
    12mths from manufacturer & 12mths from Optus.
If contract is cancelled you will not be getting the 12 months Optus warranty

    • actually the warranty card with the phone says 24 month manufacture warranty

  • +3

Just bought mine from Virgin outright with no need for contract at $744. It comes with a Huawei Case and earphones as well as the phone but the staff said they're selling much cheaper and so the price may go up eventually.

    • Do you mind posting a picture of the Huawei case? Or know if they're selling it separately in store?

      Thanks!

    • Did u received USB cables , card eject sheet and google play music card as well ??
And how much is warranty ? Also was it from a Virgin store or online ?

      • +1

I'll answer the other parts of your question when i open it but at this point, it was purchased at a Virgin store but it is currently available online as well.

        • Thanks for that.
Any Virgin markings on the handset ?

        • +2

@namz: It has everything it should have meaning the USB Cables (Both Type C to Type C and regular USB to Type C), Card eject sheet and google play music card are all there.

        • @felix26:

          Thanks dude.
Any Virgin markings on phone ?

        • @felix26: What plan did you get it on?

          Over 12 months
Without a Plan Commitment for $82 per month
          ($20 plan + $62 phone cost)
$984 min. total cost over 12 months. Cancel any time. So cancel immediately so phone cost is $744? Is this what you mean?

        • +1

@lordra: No i mean i bought it outright. No plan. No nothing. Just a phone, for $744.

        • @felix26: what about the warranty cover?

  • +2

Just to confirm, I was able to walk into a Virgin Mobile shop today and buy the phone outright for $744. No plan or SIM card required. It came with the headphones and case as shown previously in this discussion. It also came with a GST Tax Invoice so I'll be claiming my $67 tax back at the airport next week!

    • where at? Ill be doing that once my cricket credit card comes then ill get $250 back ^_^

    • @juicejuice hey so according to the guys at virgin, they only give a basic receipt, I read TRS web page and it said the receipt needs to have the word 'Tax Invoice' and when I asked whether that is the case, they said no. How were you able to get a receipt/tax invoice that is acceptable for TRS?

      • if anyone is still wondering, I was able to get a tax invoice from Optus.

  • i cancelled my optus month by month sim today and received a cancellation confirmation via email. I have no idea how these guys will bill me for this.

  • So.. I ordered one, and this video scares the shit outta me. Has anyone else seen this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3cWVdLqXCg

    • Just get good tough case

      • Kinda disappoints me that this seems easier to bend than the iPhone 6s plus

        • Who cares dude , You are not going to bend it intentionally like in that video, Just get a good tough case and you are all good. Not sure about you but I don't keep my phone more than 12 months.

    • This one is for u dude

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxkdLEXDsL0

Enjoy your new shinny N6P :)

  • Guys who bought from Virgin , Did u received Huwaie Talkbalk B2 as well ? There is a guy on OC forums claiming he got one .

My bad thats with Voda , Not Virgin.

  • What cases are people getting? After spending sometime on XDA Developers, i got this tempered glass screen protector, right now 2 for 1 using code (intelli6P) http://www.intelliarmor.com/intelliglass-nexus-6p-the-smarte…

    • @superdry : looked at casemate tough , looks good to me but its still not out. Look at Spigen ones , they always make top grade stuff.

Where are you btw , I will buy one from you if you are in Melb.:)

    • Btw how much u paid for shipping .

      • Shipping for the Glass protector is USD $3.99 The order total including shipping turned out to be USD 16.94 ($AUD 23.98)

  • Any word on graphite (aka black) becoming available through Optus?

  • What is the payment process for the Nexus 6P on Optus?

Do we pay upfront before delivery?

    • I am sure you have to . Why would they send u a 744$ phone without payment .

      • +2

Seems like you dont have to…

        Got this from chat:

While processing the order you will not have to pay anything, and after first month you will have to pay for the phone outright it is $744 and the plan will be $30 every month.

Which doesn't make any sense at all

        • I have no idea still how they are going to bill me for this as they can't bill you unless you activate it. However I have cancelled the sum via phone already. Wait and see I guess..

      • +1

You make the payment after receiving the handset and SIM card. You can cancel the service if you want right after getting your N6P. Eventually you just need to pay the handset which is 745 ish…

        • Did you buy from Optus? If you cancel right away don't you still have to pay for the $30?

        • +2

@McSync:I bought it from optus. I didn't realize I could cancel the service right away in the first place, so I probably used it for day or two. Even then, I didn't receive my bill yet. Then I called their rep and told them I was going oversea, so I need to cancel the service which they did. They did say they won't charge my service though. Today I finally received the bill after a week since I received my handset. The interesting thing about the bill is: the PDF shows I need to pay 744+30-1.5(some corrections I don't know), but their web only asked my too pay 744+1.5… I couldn't pay more if I wanted to. I also talked to their rep today and they said I was good. So, long story short, I guess you don't have to pay the service if u didn't use. Make sure to have the confirmation from their rep when you cancel the service. Hopefully this world help.

        • @qw394003276:
Thanks for the reply man. I chatted also but they recommended me to wait until the bill come, which I doubt because I thought better cancel before bill generated. Also I wonder what happens after you cancel the plan. Does it become pay as you go but still postpaid or downgraded to a prepaid service, or even the service just go inactive?

        • @McSync: It just becomes inactive. No signal for my Sim card now.

  • +1

Received my Nexus 6P from Optus today. It came with the same Huawei case & headphones felix26 linked above.

  • Scored a 6P from Virgin on 20$ Sim only plan . Will call them tomm n cancel the plan n will keep the phone after paying 744$.:)

  • Update : have got the bill :"Total Amount Due (including GST) $773.99"

  • +2

    Improved deal:

Just bought the Nexus 6P from Optus via Live Chat - $744 + 30 sim only plan, plus, an apparent online only offer where the phone comes with $100 Play Store Credit. it just keeps getting better!!

    • I hope I can get the same deal. Was tossing and turning to buy outright from store or online
Online wins if this is true

      • Shyam O:The phone needs to be taken on a contract though to get that
Shyam O:I believe they may perhaps be mistaken - it does need to be a 24 months contract or the google play credit is not provided sorry
I think you might have been lucky because my guy wont do it lol

        • +1

it seems I was lucky, yeah. maybe just tell them that I was able to get it, surely they can match it. You could try chatting with a different assistant and hopefully youll get lucky.

        • +1

          @kyriacou48:

Nope. 2 people now state the exact same thing. You lucky dawg

Laurence S:It's only for postpaid 24 months contract plans with $80 or above plans..

    • did you keep a log of this chat? Please post if you can, this would help tremendously!

      • +1

Here is my log from finally getting Shaun. I aint sure how to save it but I got a screenshot of it
Shaun:Sorry as it is under a corporate number I don't have an access to check on that.

Shaun:What I can do for you is.

Shaun:I would like you to get a new number with the $30 sim only plan month to month no contract.

Shaun:And also you can pay for the Nexus 6P outright.

Shaun:You can signup under your name on a normal account.

Shaun:$30 sim only plan with unlimited standard and national calls and sms/mms, 1GB of data and also free calls to 13/1300 numbers, and unlimited international sms/mms to selected countries.

Shaun:And the outright price of the nexus 6P will be $744.

        Shaun:Sounds good?

You:But does the google play offer come with it? or was I misinformed?

Shaun:Yes, if you signup with me you will get $100 Google credit.

        You:Ok that sounds good

        Shaun:Cool!

Shaun:Let me get this arranged for you here

Ok if you happen to find Shaun. He will do it for you
Unfortunately the rest of those operators wont help you. Shaun also helped out Kyriacou48

  • Update #2. As kyriacou48 said

You can get the Nexus 6p outright for $744+$30 month to month plan with a bonus $100 google play voucher that will be emailed or SMS to you within 14 days of activation of that month plan.

Try to find Shaun as the rest of the operators want you to be on a 24month contract. I just ordered my phone and have the logs sent to my email and a screenshot of confirmation

    DIRECT FROM MY EMAIL

    • +1

Yup, Shaun was the one I spoke to :)

Here is an extract from the chat I had:

Shaun:And do you know about the Nexus 6P online offer?

Shaun:You will get $100 credit for google play if you place the order here.

      Shaun:And no delivery charge.

      You:That sounds great actually.

Shaun is clearly the people's choice. Even waived delivery for me.

Glad I could be of help guys!

      • Did you got your 100$ Google play credit.
What If I cancel my SIM plan next day , Would I still get it ?? Thoughts !!!

        • +1

He told me that you will receive it between 1-14 days once the service is activated. It will come in a email or SMS for your code
I think if you cancel the SIM plan straight up the service isn't valid. I rather pay $30 to receive $100 than cancel and possibly not get the $100 credit. But you can risk the $30 if you like

  • What was Shaun's Last name/ Last Name's Initial and what time u guys got him on chat ?

    • Does not have a last name on the chat.
14:07:25 is the time and I tried 3 times and got 2 operators who said I couldn't have the $100 unless I signed up for 24 months. But Shaun included it

      • was that today .

        14:07:25 - AEST ?

  • I"M REALLY tempted.. do you think there will be a bigger discount in the months to come? As a true money saver, what are your thoughts people?!?!?! Wait for Dec/jan or go for it now. I don't need a phone, my M7 works wonderfully, but its been a couple of years now…

    • +1

don't need, don't buy! haha..but it's always fun to have a new device to play with. That said, novelty wears off very quickly. I'm happy with the N5 for now..lack of qi really kills the 6p and 5x for me :(

  • +1

What do you make of this glass cracking issue?
    Link is here

  • So once order is placed via Optus , how much time it takes before u get it ?

    • Ordered mine on the 29th October, delivered on the 5th November. Mine was a postpaid plan if it makes a difference.

      • Thanks.

        • +1

For additional info, it was posted from Sydney to Adelaide.

  • Has anyone received their google credit yet ??

  • I just ordered one. When exactly is the soonest I can cancel the deal?
After receiving the phone but before activating the SIM card?

    Thanks guys

  • is there anyway to buy the phone w/o the card?
I've just ported to optus sim only plan on the frenzy deal

    • Visit Optus or Virgin store , Get it on SIM only plan , Cancel SIM within 24 hours . You will be paying around 745$ approx .

  • vodaphone have the 64gb version but getting mixed messages on an outright. Someone mentioned 994AUD then I was told 885AUD at another shop. Online chat came back saying not available for outright purchase. So a little confused.

I am currently on the iinet $30 pm plan with BYO (HTC m7) and was looking to upgrade to the N6P. Any advise on which route to take? Outright or plan? I dont make too many calls but use upto 3Gb pm of data depending on if i am travelling that month or not. Otherwise i am usually on the wifi in the office or at home.

Tempted to go with a plan but the only ones that offer a similar service level are above $80 pm. i wish iinet offered the N6P but they dont.

    HELP!

  • +1

Not sure if there's been a change of Optus' deal or what but I bought it today without having to go on the sim only plan. It was actually advertised in the store as outright price. Comes in a gift pack with Huawei headphones and case.

    • I bought one outright for $744 too. No plan required. Very odd pricing from Optus - undercutting Google by $155 when I'm not even an Optus subscriber - but I'm not complaining.

      • Hey dazweeja! I was looking on the Optus website but couldn't find it?? Could you please link me, or tell me how to find it? Thanks!

    • Hey jaipac! I was looking on the Optus website but couldn't find it?? Could you please link me, or tell me how to find it? Thanks!

      • +1

It's not on the website mate, instore. They just need to have it in stock. Good luck!

        • +1

ah okay, thanks for letting me know! cheers

        • +1

          @DaiShan:

Yes, it's not on the website but it's the official price in-store (although they might not do it if they don't have enough stock). If you find the phone in-store, written at the bottom of the piece of paper with the cost of the phone on Optus plans is 'Outright price $744'. I bought mine from Northland, Melbourne. I believe you can get the same price in Virgin stores but haven't checked myself.

        • @dazweeja: Thanks very much mate. I'll have a chat in store

  • Can confirm also bought outright at optus, 744$ with free case and earphones.
Not getting alot of 4g though. (Telstra)

    • Did you get the patch update? try searching for the update manually if nothing has come through. Apparently there was an issue with telstra and the 6p but they've addressed it with the update. Let me know how it goes as I'm thinking of picking up a 6p (also on telstra).

      • I recieved the update but i find that it still likes to stay between 3g and H. It does go to 4g occasionally but not as often as my g4 or note4 did. You can also really notice the lack of OIS and the basic google Camera app but i had a g4 previous to this.

Also. If anyone else is still watching do you get MMS in a separate sms thread from the original?

        • Hmm that's interesting. Anyone else on Telstra experiencing this?

Are you happy overall or would you have just stuck with the g4, I'm on a n5 and only upgrading for want not need.n5 still performs fine.

        • +1

          @poop:

I haven't really been paying too much attention but my impression is that I'm on 4G most of the time. I am right now (Carlton, Melbourne).

Edit: I came from N5 too. My two biggest issues with that phone were battery and flaky GPS. Both of which seem significantly improved with the 6p.

        • @dazweeja: how do you find the size difference? still easily pocketable?

        • +1

@poop: well I upgrade my phone because of want and this phone is very nice but the g4 was excellent. In respect it's alot better than the 1+2 which i kept for less than a week. If you're going from an old nexus it's worth the upgrade but just keep in mind it's nearly 1cm longer than the note4. This is a premium phone and it does feel like it so go for it, You shouldn't be dissapointed. Resale value I believe is good for these phones if you don't enjoy it.

        • @ajh: Thanks for the feedback!
