Got the HTL2150 which is the same as this but without bluetooth a while ago for $79 from Dick Smith. While the sound quality is better than your TV speakers I don't believe it to be worth $129.

It looks pretty cheap, the bar is quite short so looks a little out of place in front of anything more than about 42", virtual surround is poor. At a cheaper price it might be alright for a bedroom TV but not really adequate for living room duties. I no longer have the set and now have some Microlab Solo 9c's which perform markedly better.

Recommend getting something better than this like a Sony or Samsung when it goes on sale at a similar price.

    • How long have you had the 9C's? Any problems with them? Have been wanting to get a set myself, would you recommend them and how do they sound? Do they have enough bass?

I've has them for quite a while now and love them. No problems what so ever. Given their pretty affordable price point the sound is quite refined and I'd say punches above its weight. Put the volume up a bit and they are great for movies and music. Bass is definitely present, Ofcourse not as much as a dedicated sub but it's certainly not lacking either.

    • I also have the 2150 which I got for $50 off Gumtree. It's great for that price. There's no way you'd pay $150ish for it. Virtual surround sound is a gimmick. Remote is credit card style. You have to mash the buttons for anything to happen. But they're louder than my TVs speakers so they do the job.

The 2160 has Bluetooth and USB. So it might be worth it to get those two features. But I'd be more worried about how good they sound.

  • Anyone know if this one remembers the Volume settings after you turn it off and back on? (I've had two different Phillips soundbars to this and neither of them did).
