Good price, but where am I price matching from?

Similar to the Kogan 1.5L one but with higher capacity and better brand?

Better warranty on the Philips, too

      better brand?

Debatable. It is made by a Chinese company that licenses the Philips name, also Gaggia and Saeco .

The real Philips still sell shavers and electric toothbrushes, but mostly medical equipment.

      • I've been using a Philips kettle for nearly a decade. It slowly gets a bit rusty at the bottom, no issues other than that. Multiple times its protection saved it when I turned in on without water. Fancy aliexpress kettles usually died in 1-2 years with me.

Just add 1:1, vinegar : water. Boil and its good as new.

@Furi8: I'm not bothered really. I've seen enough kettles leaking in a month, so this bit of rust in this many years is rather a bonus iron supplement to me.

        • Yes, the simple ones last.

This looks like a good design.

$47 delivered at Amazon if you want delivery.

    • Thanks. TGG wants me to pick it up from an hour away via highway lol

I bought one of these a few months ago and have been using it daily since.

It's developed some rather permanent rusty-looking spots at the bottom, despite overnight soaks with both vinegar and citric acid.

Maybe I got a dud. Still, I prefer this over other kettles that have plastic interiors.

I bought this just because my current one is plastic

Try just boiling it with citric acid (get a ratio from the net, IIRC a tablespoon or three) and leaving it for an hour. Swill then turf.

      It should come off.

i just use lemons after they’ve been juiced

    • Does pressing the button open the lid fully? I bought a 7000 series from GG and had to return it as the lid only opens very slightly when the button is pressed, so you need to open the lid fully with another hand before filling it with water…

      • In this short review clip it looks like this one also has that lid issue too. I don't know why Philips thought that's a good idea.

safety - in case lid opened when boiling, as not slow-release

        • +1

It's designed in this way to avoid steam burn when open the lid.

    • Is the inner lining of the lid metal as well? My last kettle’s plastic lid collapsed in on itself and I vowed never again

    • +1

Hard water? Straight from tap? Do you have access to RO water?

    • Is the lid plastic? Or is there any plastic that touches the water at all?

      • From the pic (OW) no

        • Officeworks?

    • +1

Hey, does this kettle have a ‘window’ to see the water level from the outside?

      • +1

        no - internal indicators

      • Plastic with external viewing windows is prone to aging and leaking…

  • Thanks OP. Topcashback tracked $2.15

  • I skipped a kettle and went for a hot water dispenser. Water is heated so fast.

  • thanks OP bought 1

  • Thanks bought 1 to replace my 25 year old Breville (Bought it in 2000). Hopefully this one will also last 25 years of daily use until 2050. Has there been any tech advancements made in 25 years for kettle water heaters or do they all still use 2000+ watts?

  • Looks great - bought 1 - thanks OP!

  • Reviews not great, seems to be a common issue it keeps stopping at 40degrees even though set at 100 so have to boil it 2-3 times, reviews

I went to go see this in person. Decided against buying it even though the deal itself is good.

Lid latch is very very light and flimsy. It is a very tiny latch mechanism made of hard plastic (as most are) but this has to be one of the worst lid latches of all time. I love Philips, but this was horrific.

Just my personal opinion, and I’m sure many will have no issues with it whatsoever, but I’d rather spend my money on something that has a far better lid & latch mechanism.

  • Is it hot to touch or does the insulated layer reduce the surface temp on the outside?

    • Double walled, it’s in the description

  • Is there any good white kettle with a stainless interior?

    • Kogan has a new temp controller double walled one that’s white

  • got one. thanks!
