Funny, I've mainly played Tomb Raider as well.

Basically just non-twitch games are fine. Stanley Parable and Fez have been good for me also.

  • TNT shipping is showing up as $0.00 for me? Is this correct?

    • +1

TNT has been very cheap or free for people on my previous deal, so I'd say go for it. GB will let you know if it's a mistake and give you some options.

  • So is Ainol pronounced in a strange way, or is it as unfortunately named as it looks?

    • +3

Apparently it's pronounced entirely different in China, but it's more of an aye-nol in English.

    • Ai is love, not sure what nol means

  • Can you automate startup and shutdown of these devices? Would be fantastic to run it on a television as digital signage for commercial purposes.

  • Just check out and lucky I found shipping cost by TNT only 1.40$ aud and only 3-5 days lol, maybe TNT have some promotion or some kind.

  • Does anyone one know how much this machine is usually?

    • $95.99 US and the coupon takes $4.99 US off.

  • Sigh having massive issues trying to reset my password. Not receiving the email and the ones I received don't actually reset the password.

Any help would be appreciated Clear thanks :)

    • Emails won't always come through instantly. Try resetting it once and when the email arrives see if that works, otherwise you might need to try another browser.

      • +1

Yeah I used three browsers, IE, Chrome and Safari on my iPhone.

Maybe it is not meant to be LOL

        • Maybe a new account if you have another email?

  • did anyone else get the free shipping option via tnt? thought that was a bit unusual… rep?

    • +1

It's fine. My last Tronsmart deal had the same, or $1.40 TNT.

      • Thanks clear. Looking forward to receiving your ainol.

        • maybe buy 2 - with christmas coming up remember it is better to give than to receive.

  • Clear, any deal on a pipo x7 pro preorder? :D ?

    • I try to avoid doing deals on preorders, but I can ask for a coupon if you want.

      • yes please if you can!

a certain other tech site has a coupon for $115usd for it. Can you do better? :O

        • A certain site permanently banned from Ozbargain…. sure I probably can.

  • Ordered one, thanks op.
Not sure what I'm going to use it for yet..

    • +1

I ended up using my PiPo as a Windows 10 test box on my desk at work. That way I can stick with Win 8 and still learn how to use Win 10.

  • What are the advantages of this pc over chromecast?

    • +3

It's a PC. Surely you know all the things a PC can do?

  • I'm confused. Clear, do you work for Geekbuying?

    • +1

Not directly. I'm what they call a "deal partner". I post deals for them on here and other sites. I also do reviews.

  • Just wish this unit has the ability to charge by USB rather than a custom power adapter

    • You might not say that if you'd tried it.
Standard USB has insufficient power. Most USB cables are too thin, unless you use the really short ones.
Using a dedicated adapter and cable avoids a lot of problems.

      • Yeah, what you said is true, but I'm thinking of the portability of it.

      • this really is no longer true for usb3 and even moreso usbC - it is designed to power laptops

  • -1

What kind of power does the "Intel Z3735F Quad Core, up to 1.83GHz CPU" have? Is it like an Intel i5 Quad core??

    • +3

      No

    • +1

Do you remember the old netbooks? They used first gen Atom CPUs. This one uses 3rd gen Atom CPU.
So think of it to have around same processing power as a cheap laptop.
In short, it'd be adequate for basic usage, but not exactly for something that demands a lot of processing power.

  • @Clear, any deals or coupons for the CHUWI Vi8 Ultimate 8 inch?

  • Hey Clear and Darkscythe. Are you twins, the one and the same or just related? Or have I just had too many vinos tonight?

    • +1

I'm definitely not Clear or related. Probably share a passion for technology and bargains though!

  • Has anyone got this mini pc? I want to get one and use it as a portable computer to play movies and listen to songs. Is it like a real computer? Can I plug and my portable hard drive in and use it? can I plug a mouse and keyboard in? Where can I get more pictures and info on this machine? Thanks in advance.

    • It's real computer.
You can plug in a portable HDD.
      Mouse and keyboard too
This review shows it in action.

      • Ordered 23rd Oct - arrived yesterday 29th

        • Thanks I just got shipment notice yesterday so should get mine this week.

    • What method of payment? Can you use PayPal?

      • Paypal is supported and probably the safest method.

        • Thanks for all you replies. I will order one tonight.

One thing i am wondering. How do you use the battery pack to charge your phone for example. Does it needs to be turned on meaning boot to windows?

Does it have to be enabled on the BIOS or something?

    • I guess it needs to be turned on if there is no button for it. It shouldn't drain to much battery if it is just on with a USB device connected charging.

      • the problem with this is if you forgot to turn it off, the system will keep running and you'll end up with drained battery.

        • I guess so but I set mine to power off when you hit the button.

You could also change the sleep setting in windows so it goes to sleep after a couple of hours?

        • @singalongforever:

still not ideal but I can see your point.

        • @kwetiaw: definitely agree not perfect but still not to bad.

I haven't had time to play with the battery much but it seems quite long so if you set to sleep after 2 - 3 hours you would probably use ~ 50% battery and go close to fully charging most phones.

The battery charging part is a bonus for me but the good thing compared to other battery packs I have had is I can plug in the power and charge the device and my phones all at once. I have found most battery packs don't let me do this.

I have a problem with the video output where it is going over the edge on my tv. I don't have the 1:1 pixel map option on my tv and for some reason the checkbox from intel video to disable panel fit is not working.

I will try and upgrade to 10 and see if it helps as playing with the Intel Stick I found windows 10 gave better performance.

        • @singalongforever:

I don't have the 1:1 pixel map option on my tv

In some TV's this is hidden in the Aspect Ratio or Zoom settings. Look for a "Just" option, or just try all the options until one looks like you can see the whole taskbar, windows logo, clock etc.

        • @singalongforever:
I also had this problem but found a solution for my Samsung 60" TV here:
          http://www.storageforum.net/forum/showthread.php/8905-How-to…
It worked a treat, now to google to see if there's a fix for the Sony 45" TV used as a monitor in the bedroom.

  • Welp bios is locked. Best $100 doorstop ever.

    • I'll ask and find out what's going on with that.

      • I'm able to access the bios - I actually mean in terms of being unable to put a different OS on it because USB booting seems to be locked :)

  • Ordered on 23 October, received this morning (2 November). Haven't tested the actual device yet, will do so once I get home, but was happy enough with the first one I got that I bought a second.

With the first one, the adapter was annoying, American plug with a US to AU adapter, means it gets raised up higher than normal and is more prone to overbalancing or being knocked off. Ended up with an adapter from Dick Smith, extra $9 + shipping. US to AU adapter that came with this one seems to be a better fit, hopefully it stays plugged in.

    • I got mine this morning had an admin account already. Should I reset it in case something is installed or am I just being paranoid?

The plug does seem wonky and I can see benefit in having a spare do you have a link to the dick smith one that worked as I saw in another forum the tip is a bit special.

      • You're being paranoid. It wouldn't make sense to have an account on there without administrator privileges, otherwise you wouldn't be able to install anything. Load up an antivirus and scan it if you want to be certain.

      • I got this one: http://www.dicksmith.com.au/adaptors-power/regulated-ac-adap…

I think this happened to be on special at the time.

Mine had an admin account as well, I created a new admin account and deleted the old one. Wasn't due to paranoia though, I just have a naming convention for my accounts, and the existing account didn't fit.

        • For those wondering I got the dick smith adapter and works fine. It has gone on sale twice since the comment was posted for ~ $11.50 which I thought was a fair price. Using this one now and packed up the original with the Converter to Australia as my spare as it does not feel as solid.

  • @Clear (Marketing Rep)

i bought one from the referred link. however when it arrived today i plugged it into the mains power and tried to power it on. the first few times the blue led light was flashing but it never got beyond the ainol splash/boot up screen - the screen then went black pretty soon after (a couple of seconds). a number of times later the same result but not the blue led light doesnt even turn on.

i've had it charging on mains for several hours but still no difference.

    is it faulty?

  • Sale ended, but it's now cheaper - USD 87.99

  • Received unit, does not charge at all. Plugged into main using a few different chargers - checked ratings, changed adaptors, nothing. LED does not flash at all. Anyone else have same problem?

geekbuy support is unhelpful, telling me because I did not contact them within 48hrs of receipt they consider this a "change of mind return" despite the unit not working at all :(

    • I got mine fully charged. Works with the mains adapter they supplied. Sounds like yours is DOA.

Agree that the official support is nonexistent on these units - I've had a difficult experience doing a software restore
