A family member bought this TV (I chose it) about 6 months ago, i'm pretty sure she $1587 for it from Harvey Norman at the time. It was the cheapest 50" they had way back then. This price is super.

High DefinitionNice telly for the price. I don't think it will be too long before we see top-tier brand 50" plasmas under $1000.
I wouldn't say LG is a top brand, but still a good price.
They are a top tier brand regardless of how you perceive them. They lead LCD development and are the world's second largest LCD maker after Samsung. They are pretty much at the top of the perch for flat panel displays.
I'm not going to get into an argument over this, but if you ask any independent industry expert, they will not say LG is anywhere near the top in terms of quality. However, you are correct in saying that they are a large manufacturer and leader in development.
They also spend a lot on marketing = perception ;-)
They're likely to lose that "second largest" title to CMO now that they've merged with Innolux.
All of the "top tier" brands have a massive year ahead of them, with more LED edge-lit and full-arrays to hit the market mid this year.. Plasma development is all but over and cost prices are plummeting because of it. You'll definitely see some top-tiered plasmas hitting sub 1k in a few months!
Pretty sure these were in Rick harts Perth city store for the same price .
not full HD but nice big TV…
