This is a decent discount for a machine that has recently been released. I assume people will be able to get the additional 5% discount from OW as well. (Haven't tried myself).

I think the price for the iPad mini is even more ridiculous :)
If you don't want it then don't buy it. I currently have the iPad Mini2 and I use it everyday; which is more than I can say for almost anything else I've bought. I get my value for money out of it.
I will buy it if it is whole lot cheaper. OK?
Edit: Unfortunately Apple controls the pricing.@edfoo: Sorry, but that is a bit of a redundant statement. There are a lot of things I would buy if they were a lot cheaper. I consider the Apple iPads good value; they aren't cheap but they have a lot of bang for buck. Then again I've also bought Miele products because they have given me bang for buck and they are price controlled as well. I don't buy stuff just 'cause it is cheaper.
@try2bhelpful: It's OK you consider iPads good value, but not to me because I compare to what other tablets out on the market and how I plan to use it. Look I use an iPhone 6 now, and I do use it often to get the value out from it, but I still wouldn't consider it good bang-for-my-buck purchase.
Edit: I posted that initial comment as a tongue-in-the-cheek ridicule on Apple's pricing. It's has nothing against Try2bhelpful who I believe is trying to be helpful to us OzBargainers. Cheers.
@edfoo: No worries, just used to the Fandroids on the Whirlpool sites and their "sheeple" comments (usually these guys are complete morons and I certainly don't class you as one of those). I have an iPhone 6+ but the majority of what I do is on the iPad mini; therefore, I consider it bang for buck. Got to admit I earn enough money that I don't lose sleep over the cost differential between Apple and other brands. (This admission alone will probably get me thrown out of Ozbargains). Enjoy whatever alternative you have chosen.
Apple controls everything as far as stock availability goes
No the stores doing the ordering chose how much stock to keep, Apple only controls supply.
thats true Apple control supply - order as much as you want but Apple will say how much you get
Decent discount
I appreciate this post. Just to quantify, that's $35. Or a 4.2% discount.
If you add in the OW price it would be closer to 8-10%; you would need to double check that OW honour that.
Ridiculous how these stores have so much stock and dick smith has none in most of its city stores for C+C.
