  • Should be noted its for new/trial accounts not existing

I'll see you all on the front page.

  • I am not familiar with Getflix, but understand the concept of unlocking geo blocking via VPN.
I have heard that Getflix routes through aussie servers etc for quick speeds. will buying this still do that? Seems to be linking to a USA site, or (i guess it might be ironic if they did) is there no different between what region/currency you sign up with.

When you setup your account, you can choose what DNS server you want to use. You can change this at any time.

      • cheers.

  • So let me get this straight…if I am currently subscribed to Aussie Netflix, will Getflix allow me access to US content straight away or will I need to have a separate subscription to US Netflix?

    • Sorry, yes you are all set. AU Netflix will convert to US Netflix (or whatever country Netflix sees you accessing the service from).

Check this site to search for what content is available on what country.

    • Your Australian Netflix subscription lets you access the US content straight away if you are on a VPN to the USA. You only need 1 subscription to access any countries netflix.

      • As part of your Getflix settings you can change your Netflix region whenever you want, so choose it based on what you want to watch (as per that flixsearch.io link).

Note that Getflix is a smart DNS service, although it does have a VPN option included too, smart DNS is better(faster) for Netflix streaming.

  • So once you configure your wifi connection with the DNS settings, it always uses that DNS, for everything, correct? That won't see any reduction in speeds for all other internet activity, will it?

Also, if you want to change back to AUS netflix, you would need to change back DNS settings, correct? Is there any content on AUS that isn't on US netflix (eg. australian produced content)?

    • I can't remember the specific titles, but I did notice that there is some content in the AU catalogue that is not in the US catalogue.

      • probably something like Chris Lily's comedies. I guess on the rare occasion i want to watch something from Aus library, i'll change the DNS settings.

    • Exactly, ideally you configure your router to use the getflix DNS servers, then everything on your network will use them. Google Chromecast is "hard coded" to use the Google DNS servers, though, so some special work needs to be done to override that.

You can then configure settings within your Getflix account for what regions to use for different types of content, for example Netflix region is one of the settings.

You won't see major slowdown in internet speeds, at least not as drastically as compared to using a VPN. You may find that some region's Netflix servers are faster than others though. My internet connection isn't the fastest around, and I only really notice Netflix streaming issues during peak Netflix viewing times (ie early evening) - just the occasional pause, nothing too dramatic.

    • You can change DNS to go back to AUS Netflix or if you prefer, you can change the subscription option inside Getflix to switch to AUS Netflix without changing your DNS

      • Didn't know you could do that. That sounds easier. Thanks!
I've been watching 'Utopia', an Australian production this week, so I think on the rare occasion I'd like to switch back to Aus netflix.

has anyone ever requested a refund through StackSocial and can advise what it was like??

  • Privatoria is cheaper for 3 years. Any reason to pick Private Internet Access over Privatoria?

  • +1

You can pay for PIA subscriptions using Telstra Pre-Paid recharge credit via Google Play store. Ends up being much cheaper.

    • +2

thanks sween64 just signed up that way

    • How do you pay PIA subscription via Google Play? I could only find the PIA app to download on Google Play.

      • +1

Download the PIA app on Android 4.0 or later and purchase a subscription via the IAP.

  • Silly question, but what's the difference between the VPN provided with Getflix and the VPN provided by the other two providers mentioned here? Logs being kept and general speed?

    • The 2 VPN's i listed do no keep logs.

Not sure on GetFlix VPN though

      • It says they offer an optional, free VPN service. I would imagine it being pretty basic seeing as they're cheaper than everyone else.

  • It says this on the link, but I'm not clear what I'm buying for $39?

    "$39
    $330 88% off"

  • Is the Getflix deal able to be added to current accounts, or has it been changed to only new accounts as I have read?

    • I added a similar offer to my account a few weeks ago. It stacks on no problem
