To be fair though, a lot of these energy companies have extremely low ratings. Even a well known company like AGL and Origin have terrible ratings http://www.productreview.com.au/p/origin-energy.html

      • AGL are horrible…. i think their complaints department only exists as a formality

Please stay away from Simply Energy, I had very bad experience with them.

ive posted this deal to share with other people as its atleast 5% higher then others have posted/ ive seen. I am quite offended people shouting sock puppeting as i do not work there . This place is to share good deals i think its great all energy retailers have bad feed back

heres one for Agl recieving 15 million….

Maybe we could list a thread of people who are happy with their providers. I'm with Alinta (no association beyond a customer) and I'm very happy with them. I have a few friends who swear by red energy too. I think both have permanent discounts if you sign up.

    • I suppose most people have contact with their energy retailer less then once a year, so it's a bit hard to judge what their customer service is like.

40% off WHAT …. I get telemarketers calling me offering huge discounts. My point being, the discount is irrelevant without knowing the starting point.

    • Hear hear.
They inflat the supply/connection charge, inflat the usage charge. then only offer a discount on the usage.

Thieves the lot of them! Powershop seems to be the best of the bunch.

  • Oh man, what a coincidence?!? Ive been gettin harassed for the last 3 days by this one same number (08) 7912 8298, got home and searched for it - low and behold search tells me its some energy company called simply energy! Must be some aggressive marketing strategy - harass customers into submission.

I've been with them for over a year now and had no problems at all. They recently updated my deal to 29% off usage AND the daily rate on electricity, and 19% off usage AND daily rate on gas.
Taking the discount off the daily rate makes a bigger difference I think… now they also just release a daily checker to see how much electricity I use each day (in $)… which is pretty cool. I don't have anything bad to say about them. Then again.. I might be lucky?

Pretty good deal if you ask me

Yes, I'm sure you would say it would be.

    • No deal as only showing % off
If you were offered 90% off , wouldn't you want to know what the price per kw/hour ?

    • Company has poor reputation

    • OP acting like a shrill

I was about to jump on the RACV Simply Energy offer but I got the 40% off Electricity and 25% of Gas offer with Energy Australia - just call and ask..

hint: always test your usage and rates against the various discounts offered.. may take an afternoon in Excel, but will be worth the time..

  • I switched to powershop from them. Have a look at Whirlpool forum on powershop as it explains how to maximize savings by effectively buy g power at certain times and I always buy their special one off event packages which are small amounts for very limited times.

  • If you want to look at your best option at the moment in Victoria, try the government Switch On . Then you can go the retailers websites and verify the prices. And then go to iSelect and see higher prices and understand why they put Frequent flyers on top ;)
