I love priecpal, it's easy to use and track your transactions. However, I still find CashRewards offer better rate with many stores when compared with the founder level.

  • +2

I actually got downgraded from founder to white level (bug I think) when I signed in to Pricepal via Moneybackco/Starthere credentials last year. LOLed at the email:

You've just been promoted to White level. From now on you'll receive even more cashback on your transactions.

    Full circle. Cheers.

    Reminded me of this

    • Sorry about that bug Neil - we'll make sure you get back to your original level

      • I remember one needs to achieve a certain amount of cashback p.a. to maintain this level. Is it true and what is the amount?

        • +8

There is no minimum to maintain :) No other catches, just a straight member upgrade.

        • -7

          @PricePalTeam:

          just a straight member upgrade

          What if I'm gay?

        • @montorola: then you get a double upgrade

        • +1

          @geek7899:

At least you saw the joke haha

        • +1

          @montorola: as in "overwhelmingly happy"?

  • Thanks (I hope)

    • +1

      You've made the cut :)

      • Great I've just signed up

  • I used to always use pricepal (actually since starthere), then switched to cashreward as everything got higher rebate from cashreward.

Maybe now I'll jump the ship again ;)

  • +2

Not that I can take advantage of this offer, as I'd be a new subscriber. But how are they in-terms of actually paying out?

Cashrewards is pretty sheit. I've had cashbacks go unpaid for over 8 months until i chase them. They eventually get paid, but it can be a pain emailing every time. Having said that, a quick check has cashrewards paying more (sometimes a lot) than then pricepal, unless you're a foundation member.

    • Yeah Cash Rewards are horrendous at processing credit. Greater rates may be one thing but if you have to wait several months, it's worth switching to a more efficient referrer.

  • +1

I guess they want to do survey on how many OZBarganiers use pricepal.

  • Sent in my request thanks :) although a lot of clicks already.

  • I signed up. Hope i can be one of founder level. Crossfinger

  • Thanks hope I made the cut

  • Is there a way to find out what the founder rate is for a store?

    • I think a general rule of thumb is that it's 20% more than the next level down. So if White is 1.5% then the Founder rate would be 1.8%. But don't quote me on that…

      • Well if that's the case I would just stick with CashRewards

      • Hey, Founder would actually be 2.70% if White was 1.50%. Black would be 2.25%, which is the next level down from Founder.
Basically, take the Black rate and multiply it by 1.20 to get the Founder rate :)

        • So I would still get the highest rate even if I'm only a white level member?

        • @maxhu: If you're a white member now and we upgrade you to Founder, you'll get the highest rate (i.e. the founder rate) - think that answers your question?

        • @PricePalTeam: yup. Now I just hope that I made it. Thank you for the information regardless. =)

    • +1

Hey Max, yeah - times the white rate by 1.8

  • +1

I did not know pricepal existed. Would jump onboard if their tracking is good. Oh well, too late for the deal. Such is life.

  • -3

Please add "existing customers only" to the title. I just wasted ten minutes creating the account for nothing

    • +1

Pity you didn't "waste" those ten minutes reading the post.

  • As with everything, there's no one "best" option - I find that I use Cashrewards exclusively for eBay, but PricePal for most other things. Their tracking is no better/worse than any other, because it still relies on the exact same commission engines in the back end that process transactions for everybody. In my experience customer support has been equally good for both.

    • what commission engine do they use?

      • No idea actually, but I assume they do due to the almost complete overlap in the retailers that they provide cashback for. Most likely candidate is APD Group (previously Commission Monster).

  • is diamond or founder level higher?

    • Founder is higher - it goes: White, Gold, Diamond, Black, Founder (Founder level is hidden and hasn't been released for over 3 years)

  • Whats difference between Black and Founder level?

    • Cashback rates for founder on average are 20% better than Black - that's not +20% but x20% :) E.g. instead of 7.5% you'd get 9.0%

      • How do i know if i have been accepted as founder member?

        • You'll receive an email notification within the next 7 days to let you know have been upgraded :)

        • @PricePalTeam: Thanks.

        • @PricePalTeam: And there are still spots available?

        • +1
        • Just goto https://pricepal.com.au/account and see what it says?

          Member Level: Founder
          Payment Details: Minimum payout: $20.00

        • -1

@NGPriest: Have you tried to adjust to no minimum payout?Maybe for Founder level members, minimum payout is $20,which is the catch!

        • @NGPriest:

I signed up straight away when this was posted earlier and it's hasn't changed for me yet.

        • @PcisT: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/212595#comment-3072485

It’s only available to existing PricePal members (i.e. you need to have joined before today) and is on a first-come first-served basis - so get in quick :)

        • @NGPriest:

I've been a long time member. I mean sign up to this deal by sending an email.

        • @Neoika: Hey, there's no catch here - the minimum payout level can be set by the member no matter what level you are.

        • @PcisT: Hey, we're doing the first batch of the upgrade process tomorrow morning… if you were in straight away, you'll definitely get an upgrade. You will get an email letting you know too, so no need to keep checking your account - sit back and relax :)

        • +1

@PricePalTeam: I signed up straight away (within 10 mins of this post) and still list at my existing level. :( Did you process as expected this morning?

    • Once you go black…

  • Roughly how many members do you plan to upgrade?

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Thanks PricePal - I have just sent off my request - fingers crossed.

  • +1

What if we're already a founder?
    Double founder? :D

    • +3

You get "promoted" to white :)

      • +3

        How about a white founder?

        Wait, that sounds racist :p

  • Thanks OP/PP, just signed up 1-2 weeks ago.
Over 2 hours into this promo/deal, not liking my chances, but signed in as required.

  • +2

No thanks…rates in general still worse than Cashrewards….but I still upvoted the deal..to praise competition…Both should do more to win our business…

    • +1

Sorry, please check your fact before you post. Yes, ebay still 0.5% lower, but places like strawberryNET where my wife gets her cosmetics all the time is now 13.5% (from 7.5%) compared to standard 8% from cashreward..massive 5% jump! bravo!

I guess I probably still gonna use cashreward for most of my ebay purchase ( if only pricepal could just increase ebay to 2.5% and It would be so much easier for me) wink wink

    • David Jones/Groupon/Livingsocial are higher.

      • Founder Level for DJ's and LivingSocial is 6.30%.
Groupon is up to 7.65% (different rates for different product types)

        • I've been a founder for years. I am pretty sure that price pal shiows 4.6%. Can you confirm the Groupon rate fir founder? Thanks Op.

  • Got in my request when there were no comments hope I made it through, have had some decent cash back on shopping however I missed one the other day when the toolbar didn't want to work unless I signed in to pricepal and launched the site manually missed out on a cash back :(

    • +1

Heya - send us the details of your missed transaction (date/store/amount/order ID) to [email protected] and we'll see if we can find it for you, thanks :)

  • +1

I gotta say although PricePal has a lower base rate than CashRewards, the referral bonus makes it higher, about 1.5x-1.8x the amount of CR. Although it is a hassle to recruit people, I don't think I will be running out of the referral bonus anytime soon.

    • Right, and if Ozbers recommend Pricepal more than Cashrewards, more people will join through the referral system which gives the lucky dog bonus.

    • Bugger, I didnt know about the referral system when I signed up very recently, sad panda

  • +1

In brief Cashrewards state that if you use a voucher code not listed on their site you may not get cashback. Pricepal don't state this. I use both

  • -2

i used pricepal to book through hotels.com last year but the transaction never get registered, no cashback. now i use cashreward

    • +1

Hey - we're sorry about the missing cashback for hotels.com, unfortunately this happens from time to time (it's a common issue for all cashback sites, both here in Oz, and even for the huge cashback sites in the US)… unfortunately the retailers can have tracking issues with their site. But you're able to submit a missing cashback request with us - or email us the transaction details at [email protected] and we'll try to track down the cashback for you.

  • Good deal! probably a good time to merge my accidentally created second account too.

    • +1

FYI - we'll be upgrading the account that you were logged into when you submitted the request. Send us an email to [email protected] with details of the 2nd account, and if you have any cashback accrued we can credit it to your primary account

  • Thanks OP. Submitted my founder upgrade request.

Do we get an email confirming the founder upgrade has been submitted? Or just when you have been successfully upgraded?

    • +3

Just when you get upgraded. We'll start manually upgrading tomorrow in batches. Thanks for submission :)

      • Thanks for the respond.

      • Just received my upgrade email. Thanks OP.

  • Signed up to get Cashback for that Telstra deal. Never went through and now I have an annoying banner whenever I visit a participating site.

    • Hey, we'll private message you to sort it out - if you ever need to get in touch with us all you have to do is send us an email to [email protected], we're always happy to help with any issues :)

  • Thanks for the upgrade opportunity PricePal. Hope I made the cut.

  • I have just logged back into PricePal using the lost password,
and just found out that I am already at the founder level….

I was so confused until I thought cashrewards is NOT formal moneybackco/starthere but PricePal, damn!!! :-D

    • and I know why I stopped using PricePal……because it has $5 annual memebership fees! :-(

      • +3

Hey David, there is no annual membership fee. There was a fee once upon a time, but that stopped in 2012 :)

  • +1

Does founder have better eBay rates? Match CashRewards and I think you will have a serious amount of market share of OzBargainers.

  • Thanks haven't used a cash back program before but have just signed up for this

  • Just submitted. Hopefully there are some left!

  • +1

I submitted mine yesterday. Can OP advise how many or if there are any left?

  • Ohh.. just saw this. Msg sent. Thanks

  • +1

Just submitted a message. Probably too late?

  • Crossing fingers here!

May be time to move cashrewards aside.

  • Is there any way to sign up using referrer without installing the web app ?

    • Hey Dunc05, good question - sorry for the delay in replying. Currently our referral program is only for web app downloads, as we're really excited for new members to try it and give feedback (plus we were finding a number of fake email address referrals signing up… which meant we would have had to close down the referral program completely)

  • +1

I submitted mine on Thursday afternoon, but I haven't heard back from you, op. Help? :)

    • Hey, we're upgrading over the course of this week - we're doing it in batches… drop us an email [email protected] next week if any queries, thanks :)

  • it does say takes a week so fingers cross I still get mine.

  • -1

All gone :( nothing to see here, move on peoples.

  • Got my confirmation email today. Took exactly a week ;)

  • Same confirmation.

    Pricepal it is then.
