Sony A6000 with 16-50mm Kit Lens $686 (after $100 Sony Cashback) @ Harvey Norman

190

Looks like the unit with kit lens is back on sale! Not as great as the 706 deal (606 after cashback) a couple of weeks ago. But not a bad price for this unit

  • Did it always come with bonus 300 6"x4" prints? (which is what like $30 or something?). Man really tempted but still after I missed last deal said I wouldn't pull the trigger unless for a lower price :/

    • I don't think it works with bundles/certain products? Same thing happened last time and tried applying it

Oh. So only full priced stock? Which essentially means it's worthless.

There are far better cameras with a larger lens range out there such as the Olympus OMD series. Olympus also have far better stabilisation and pretty much instantaneous focus

    • +1

Which OMD model is comparable to the A6000? Most of the Olympus ones I've been looking at are micro 4/3 vs this APS-C or does that not matter too much. And thought all the 179 phase detection AF points on the A6000 made it really good, just really confused with all the different things to consider. Or is the lens selection more important than those things?

M10 or an even better bargain would be to find an M5 at JB for around the $300 mark.

  • +1

Good deal for a very capable camera. As for OMD, the sensor size is smaller, but a lot other benefits such as smaller body/lenses, large selection of lenses n retro look. So both are great cameras, just choose the one that fit your purpose.

    • The Olympus is as ugly as sin. Reason enough, not to mention sony's exceptional low light shooting.

      • Sony A6000 is really not that great in low light, especially with the POC 16-55. Pictures beyond ISO 3200 is very noisy.

You want to do low light, you will need the 35 F1.8 or 50 F1.8. That is another $350 add to the bill.

        • I was referring to the low light shoting at this price point. Obviously, there are infinite better low light cameras or Lens options ,but not at this price point.

          Yes there is:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/208927

During the Ebay sake, add a 35 DX 1.8, you bill comes out around $800 after cash back.

I just got mine a few days ago. Each (A6000 and D5500) has their Pros and Cons, but so far I don't see a reason keeping my A6000.

BTW many people glorify about that kit lens of Nikon…..They aren't joking. So as the 35 DX 1.8. Bang for the bucks lens.

  • Couldn't resist anymore and bought one over the weekend. I just got it with me today.

    • good timing,
ive been so close to committing then find out its no longer on sale as of today

  • The price now is $1284 before the cashback. You all that got this deal are lucky.
