Gearbest ?? read this first: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/208703

    • I have ordered a few things through Gearbest. 2 things i ordered via expedited shipping and 1 arrived within the time-frame but the other didn't. The one that didn't was on pre-sale but once it showed as shipped on the DHL website, it was delivered to me in 2 days so technically, i guess, it was expedited. This was just 2 weeks back when i ordered the Elephone P8000.

        • It's ok, i have the items now and as it was a delayed pre-sale, i can live with the delay in shipping.
One thing I would suggest is to be pro-active in letting people now about delays and then to also keep them updated. I always had to initiate contact to find out what was happening.

They typically claim to have stock of everything and then it is only months later that you find out they never had stock in the first place.

Expedited shipping is a joke since I ordered an item months ago via expedited shipping and received nothing. I'm sorry but they are a borderline fraudulent company since they never update their stock numbers to accurately reflect their actual stock, so why even offer expedited shipping and claim it will ship in 3-5 days when this is NEVER the case?

Borderline scammers if you ask me.

  • i got few items from them delivered late but they are fine, I guess they need to sort postal issues as soon as possible.

  • I recently purchased the Xiaomi router mini. It kicks ass for ~$20AUD.
Only problem is that there isn't an English user interface.

    • Just read a massive review for that and it looks very sweet for 20 bucks, the negative points don't even effect me…

      • Excluding English, what were the negative points?

        Worthwhile mentioning:
        * You can easily put OpenWRT on it.
        * Wireless performance is better than most. (I've compared against Ubiquiti and Cisco)
        * The AC adapter I got was not Australian. I threw it out and replaced it with something else.

          looks like this:
100 Mbps Ethernet ports are a bottleneck
No guest login or guest wireless network feature
No option to edit routing tables or manage dynamic routing on stock firmware
Doesn’t provide full AC bandwidth in wireless repeater mode

        • No guest login or guest wireless network feature
          * That exists. Perhaps its a new feature?

100 Mbps Ethernet ports are a bottleneck
It made me think twice before I got it. Often the bottleneck is the Non-present Broadband Network.
Buyers should consider what they intend on using it for and if this bottleneck will have an impact on them.

    • Where for 20 AUD ?

      • It was on sale a while back on AliExpress.

  • Can anyone recommend an expensive generic WiFi amplifier?

  • any deals on the xiaomi mini router?
