Only works if you actually received the email…

    • +2

I didn't receive any email message, yet it is still giving me the free listing.

Keep in mind this is only for the .99 cent listing, not gallery fees or buy it now additions, so at best it will save you 30 cents! Quite a stingy offer by ebay.

    • This isn't true for me, I never got an email but I just made a quick dummy listing and I was not charged for the listing fee at 99c.

      Seems to apply for all.

      • Oh well….. I don't think a .30 cent saving in the over all scheme of things will motivate that many people to list items.

The free "buy it now" listings that they have had in the past were much more appealling.

    • Hmmm, my bad… guess that line must have been a generic term/condition they put in all their offers.

But as people pointed out, the saving is only 30c and eBay is quite likely to recover that and then some on listings.

  • +2

    saving of 30c…

    • +1

but for those who have heaps of stuff to clear out it all adds up

  • +1

    Yeah, well ho-hum.
I got the email but the carefactor is but there @ 30c.
When are the plix going to drop the ridiculous 59c per item "gallery" fee for a postage stamp sized thumbnail image?
Ebay have given me the ummm… irritations, ever since they forced the Paypal collusion on us all.

  • +2

I personally really hate them, but is forced with no option to still using their service.

  • If you list a large number of items, this little saving REALLY adds up.

  • +1

the last free buy it now listing was the BEST!!!

I was hoping they'd do it again :(

    • I love the free Buy-It-Now
these .99c never interested me in any way…

  • dammit i just put an item up for 97cents and didnt get freebee fees!

    • Did you get the email?

I put one up for 50cents and got it free listing.

  • Pretty poor special from ebay, but a worthy deal none the less. I will find some junk to list that i don't mind going for $1.

I share the same feelings as King Tightarse, i think it's a bloody joke that ebay charge 59c extra for a gallery image, on top of the listing fees. So mean.
It's such a necessary part of an auction, it should be default, included with your listing fees and final value fees which are already high.
$27 in ebay and paypal fees to sell something for a few hundred bucks ($460). And that's with no listing upgrades or extra images, other than gallery.

I tried OZtion, and my stuff sat on there for months without selling. Might try eBid.

eBay US give you gallery image for free.

an item with large quantity costs $3.50 for eBay Australia without gallery image

It costs $0.35c for eBay US with gallery image.

Its pretty clear they are ripping us off.

      • WTF WTF WTF!!!!????

Australian ebay users are being charged 10x more than US in some instances?!! >:[

So large quantity items, you mean for example if i'm selling 50 units of a $10 item, US eBay charge me 35c, and AUS eBay charge me $3.50, cause it's $500 total value for the auction, right?

2 listings on ebay US, or 1 gallery pic on ebay AUS. :(

I wonder if i can create a US ebay account, and sell worldwide, stating in the listing that item location is Australia. I wonder how that will go down.

EDIT: I just created a test listing via the US ebay site, i signed in using my existing ebay login. Cost for auction with gallery pic, FREE (dependent on how many listings you already have. Tried it with $444 listing, but i guess it's unlimited).
Buy it Now listing with gallery for a $444 item, with 11 units (~$5000 total value), cost: 35c!!!!

        • Yeah ebay OZ ripping us alots.
Listing on eBay Singapore is free and no Paypal too.

  • There is a permanent free buy it now option. Its called gumtree…

    • +1 for gumtree, although its ebay owned, its great for those meet in person deals. Ive sold a few vehicles on there which would have cost me at least $45 on ebay
