tightarse, as always you bring awesome deal. BTW I rarely see Shoppingexpress deal on Graphic Card Sales i.e. GTX 970, 980 or 980ti. Can you bring us this deal?

  • -8

Good price. But last time I bought a HDD from shopping express It was delivered in no box just the HDD wrapped in bubble wrap. Not taking that risk again

    • +6
    • +2

This is an SSD. Risk averted.

    • +17

      Hi samboread,

Did you purchase an internal HDD? All internal HDD do not come in box. That said - we pack our HDD very carefully and if you feel otherwise, please submit a ticket or PM me with the issue you have so we can check if it is not packed to our standard requirements or not.
There is no benefit for us to send a faulty hdd to customer and get it send back.

As for this SSD, it comes with box

      cheers
      SE

      • +2

Bought this SSD in the last deal, Good product and price.. absolute #$%@ customer service.
Don't reply to tickets, answer phone calls, or emails in my experience.

        • Can you PM me details?

          cheers
          SE

        • +12

Just curious. Why you needed customer service if you were happy with everything?

        • +3

          @gummibear:
Maybe he wanted to compliment them!

        • Pity, got excellent customer service myself. Reasonably responsive replies to emails and proactive with updates to my order.

        • @FatBoy:

I really hope so, because one thing I will never tolerate is poor customer service.

As for this prices on this SSD, excellent!! Paid $9.00 for in the last deal as was quite happy with that.

        • @TilacVIP:

$9 for a 250GB SSD beats this deal flat! :)

      • Yeah the HDD was fine, just left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm sure this deal would be fine. :)

        • +18

Don't lick the bubble wrap :p

        • @Steptoe:
or ask for the choc flavored one when u put through your order

      • I took delivery of my 480 gig ssd two days ago and was just wrapped in bubble wrap inside an envelope. Didn't particularly concern me but you shouldn't be saying it would be in a box when it clearly wasn't.

        • which brand/model is it? Can you give me the link?

Our SSDs come in retail box. On very rare occasion we sell only bare SSD (which we will indicate on listing).

      • +2

Thats because you guys order in bare, rather then retail box when ordering from the Disty. All brands do sell their internals in retail boxes, but for whatever reason very few stores keep them.

we pack our HDD very carefully and if you feel otherwise,

You bet your ass I feel otherwise.

You send HDDs loose in A4-sized cardboard boxes wrapped in nothing more than their ESD bags, as if you're trying to encourage your DOA rates to go up. And then you use the cheapest, most unreliable couriers (I won't be specific but I will say their name begins with "Fast" and ends with "way") who give the thing the kind of journey that might be expected in the Dakar rally.

Seriously, your packaging is piss-poor and Fastway Couriers couldn't find tits in a strip joint.

    • More than sufficient for SSD :/

    • +4

had similar experience. bought some bubble wrap from them and it was delivered in no box. Not taking that risk again

      • +1

I assume you have a typo there, otherwise you are a troll?

In any case, if you have an issue, would you care to PM me?

        thanks

        regards
        SE

        • I wouldn't say "troll". more like I'm highlighting the fact that bubble wrap is perfect for wrapping stuff and you don't need a box with it (provided there is sufficient bubble wrap)

        • @altomic:

I'm just pointing to "bought some bubble wrap from them" - because we don't sell bubble wrap.

          I already mention i assume that's a type :)

        • +2

          @ShoppingExpress: that's cool.

      • +7

Today I learned: ShoppingExpress sell bubble wrap.

        • +8

          Coupon code BUBBLEARSE soon.

    • If you want boxes for HDDs then shop at retail stores like Harvey Norman

      • +1

They even come with enclosures when you get them from Harvey Norman….

I can't remember the last time I bought an internal drive that came in retail packaging. I am sure they exist but I have never bought one.

    • +1

I bought a lot of SSDs from SE, everytime it's been double-bubblewrapped. Not sure about HDD though

  • +1

dam you TA, made me regret my buy one after another on SSD lol..

  • Is this SSD faster than the sandisk deal not long ago?

    • +1

Besides being faster than the Sandisk, it also uses MLC NAND which is apparently more reliable. Great review here.

      • +5

Other way around. The crucial uses MLC which has a better reputation than TLC which is used in the Sandisk.

        • +1

Too right. Sorry for the typo. I'll see if the mods can edit the comment. Thanks :)

        • +7

          @tightarse:
The dude that brings the deals doesn't need to apologise for typos

        • That cheap Sandisk SSD Plus also uses MLC.

      • BX100 uses MLC

  • Would be nice to have a sweet 128G SSD deal for the weekend - I need another 2 of them!!!

Seriously though, I have this SSD and it's great. Nice price.

  • Sorry, just want to borrow this thread since SE seems to replying here.

My micro SD card I ordered from a previous deal more than 2 weeks ago still hasn't arrived. I've emailed 2 days ago and all you've said is to wait another day, well I did and emailed you back but still have no reply.

    Anyways, good deal btw.

    • Hi aero8,

If it's urgent and we did not get back to you yet, please consider give us a call at 02-83388899. I'm sure we will be able to sort out for you in case of any issues.

      cheers
      SE

      • All good now. Fingers crossed it'll actually arrive this time.

  • I already bought the 128GB Sandisk the other day :( Now this deal comes up. Should of waited. Any point of me buying another SSD lol….

  • Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it's adding $9.25 shipping (total $118.25) for me. I'm in Vic.

Update: reapplied the coupon code and the discount increased to bring it back to $109. All good.

    • have you applied coupon code?
It will show the total amount in your shopping cart as $109. Please confirm again?

      • +2

I reapplied the coupon code and the discount increased to bring it back to $109. All good, thanks for responding.

  • I just tried to purchase one of these SSD and when I get to the final page it tells me to select shipping and the price goes up to $118.25, I thought it was $109 delivered as per your title

    • +1

I thought it was $109 delivered as per your title

      It is…

    • Please check your final price - it will be $109 after applying the coupon code.

      cheers
      SE

    • +1

Just tried reapplying the coupon code after reading your previous replies and it brings the cost back down to $109 and it's working. Thanks!

  • +1

    Order placed. $109 to Adelaide.

Thanks - hoping my 3rd SE order is as smooth as the others :)

  • +1

Nice! I picked this up, and shipping is free too? Thanks so much ^_^

  • Another awesome deal! I don't need one but I want one.

  • Pretty good price for SSD at that size, but I personally favour superior performance in the same class over price and will spend the extra $30 to get the Samsung EVO 250GB with sequential R/W speeds at 540/520MB/s. I will also never buy from SS again, horrendous experiences…

    • +2

You wouldn't notice the extra performance. Besides the samsung uses cheaper TLC NAND whereas this uses MLC. MLC is known to have better reliability and longer write cycles. Cheaper and should last longer. Its a no brainer getting this over the samsung.

      • The Samsung uses 3D V-NAND which is an innovative differentiator and is backed by 5 years of warranty. Real life speeds would be the same as with MX100 but the Samsung might give you a premium placebo effect.

        • Actually, noticable depends on what you're using on the SSD itself. I'm typically dealing with files between 2-25GB each and every day and transferring large amounts over my network, so the difference may be small, but still noticable. Also, as a MLE of 7 years on the Evo, I am unlikely to be using the same PC and HDD in 2022, so the whole 'lasts longer' argument doesn't resonate with me. Warranty still there…

        • +1

@roosta: Its not about that, its about the inconvenience of having to take the ssd out of your comp, register on the company website, pay shipping to send it back to manufacturer and wait for a replacement. And in the meantime reinstall windows on a new ssd.. Would much rather have a ssd lasts longer so you don't have to go through this procedure.

But I've just read that the BX is missing a few features like SLC caching so write endurance might not be longer. Its still cheaper than the samsung and the if you're transferring over the network. Your speeds would be bottlenecked anyway.

        • @roosta: What's the maximum speed of your computer's wireless card?

    • +2

Just to point out this is SE (shopping express) not SS (Shopping square). Different companies.

Also as per your comment on the transferring over the network, unless you're running a 10Gigabit link (in which case you're talking enterprise hardware), it will be the bottleneck. A standard 1 Gigabit network link will only give you throughput of about 120MB/s

  • Thanks TA!

  • finally!!! thanks TA

  • +1

    TY TA! Ordered one.

Just FYI for comparisons to OCZ Arc 240GB (occasionally $110 during MSY discounts)

BX100 should be the better drive overall for most users due to higher 4k R/W performance (and negligibly lower seq R/W).
    http://www.trustedreviews.com/ocz-arc-240gb-review-performan…

Performance consistency seems to be higher on the Arc, though I doubt many people would expect that from a value SSD.
    (Anandtech reviews)

  • Reviews aren't good for this site but I'm taking the chance anyway, it's a pretty good price.
You can select shipping insurance as well and it still comes to $109

    • Reviews aren't good for this site but I'm taking the chance anyway

What reviews are you referring to?

      • +2

I've bought 4 items from shopping express in the past month with no issues. Always very quick with shipping.

        • +3

Their warranty service is very below average though, which is what shows in the reviews.

Take my recent experience, bought a 5th gen i3 NUC from SE, arrived with a dead power brick (was DOA) so lodged a warranty request via email (as their ticket support program is a piece of junk) a full week later, an email arrives saying talk to intel (which is against the law FYI)

Pretty poor given it was a brand new item.

        • @Copie: That is pretty poor. It's a shame that sometimes you need to know consumer law yourself and reference it before things get moving!

      • more than 50% of reviewers here have had a negative experience, hopefully mine goes through without a hitch.
        http://www.productreview.com.au/p/shopping-express.html

  • Thanks Ta.

  • +1

Just put my order in for the ssd as I have an old laptop that takes forever to boot up.

As for purchasing from Shopping Express, I've bought 2 HP N54l NAS's in the past 2 years as well as a micro sd card and haven't had any issues.

  • Is this as good as Samsung EVO…..Is this latest technology?

    • No and no.

    • This is a basic drive. It's reliable, but it lacks power-off data protection, devSLP and there's no hardware encryption.

Apart from the lack of power loss protection, the other two features are not really essential for an everyday consumer.

      • I'm looking for a ssd for a nas server build. How does this compare with the Evo 850 pro in terms of power off data protection?

I can't seem to find much info regarding this in consumer grade ssds.

        Thanks in advance.

        • Have a read of the comment you replied to. Should go to SpecSavers ;)

It's reliable, but it lacks power-off data protection

        • @Thrift:
Yes I did read that. What I meant was, is the EVO 850 Pro any better, or more widely, does any consumer grade ssd provide adequate power off protection?

  • Thanks TA, waiting for a 500GB if possible though!

  • why it charge $9.25 for shipping on me?

    1 Crucial BX100 250GB SSD SATA CT250BX100SSD1 $139.00
    Order Subtotal $139.00
    Total Shipping $9.25
    Total Discount -$30.00
    GST Inc. $10.75
    Order Total $118.25

edit: fixed : checkout via paypal fix the problem

  • Is there any way i can convert this SSD to a portable USB hard drive ?please help

    • Buy a SATA II or III external hard drive enclosure and connect it with USB 3.0.
A SATA III enclosure (5Gbps) would almost maximise the SSD's 6Gbps speed.

    • You buy an enclosure or a SATA to USB cable.

  • [Serious] I make a lot of impulse buys from this site. What do people buy these SSDs for? These deals are always very popular but I never get why. Are these purchased exclusively for new pc builds / mods? I'm wondering what I'm missing.

    • You can also use SSD for external in a housing.

    • +1

Are these purchased exclusively for new pc builds / mods? I'm wondering what I'm missing.

Nope, I've put these in older laptops/desktops as well. Makes them feel new. 5-10 second boot time, from the button press to the desktop (actually usable, not waiting another 30 seconds for the first program/window to start up)

      • And like Rihanna, you can treat your newly upgraded SSD drive laptop a bit more rougher and she won't make clicking noises and throw up blue screens nearly as much as before on standard magnetic motorised drives.

        Laptop frisbee

  • Does this drive come with disk imaging software for cloning a HDD?

    • No. You can use Aomei Backupper, free cloning software which does the job perfectly. Tried and tested by me.

    • +1

      Use Macrium Reflect Free Edition.
Much better than Samsung's/Intel's bundled migration software.

I'd also stay away from AOMEI Backupper, it's incredibly basic and its interface is a mess.

      • Do you know if Macrium can back up recovery partitions on let's say Dell laptops and the like? Many seem to copy them but rarely do they work when the time comes to do a factory reset.

  • thank you TA, this another astounding bargain thanks to you!!!

  • Would love a deal for m.2 data 500gb drives in the future, haven't seen many around

  • Thank you, ordered one.

  • I haven't bought an ssd in a while. How are these compared to the Samsung 840 pro.
I have two 120gb running in raid for OS.

    • Check the "SSD userbenchmark" site

  • I'm rebuilding a macbook for a mate - thanks TA.

  • +1

Great deal - any chance of working a deal on this bad boy? :D

    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/samsung-850-evo-500gb-…

  • Out of stock :( :(

  • 500gb please as well if possible

  • Great deal, TA & SE. Sadly for me, sold out.
