Not too sure what the real go is but I've been told kogan sell half fake dslr's… They take out the expensive canon parts and put cheaper ones inside…

    • Thats interesting, do you have a link to an article?

    • +2

Do you know what it costs to service camera gear? Even using cheap labour selling a camera after swapping out parts you wouldn't break even.

They sell grey market though. Which means it is overseas product and warranty won't be honoured here.

      • Yeah swapping out parts could get quite pricey and is highly illegal. You still get a one year warranty through Kogan.

      • Was to do with grey imports, both camera house and dick smiths sellers said that kogan have been known to in the past… But as I said I've heard I've never seen it written down. Which really doesn't hold up well but was worth a mention

        • You pretty much were just discrediting Kogan with no proof? Pretty sure selling fake DSLRs is a criminal offence and Kogan would have been prosecuted by now. Camera house and Dick Smith are competitors so its not surprising that they are the source of the controversy.

        • @ShamelessBargains:

Yeah well thats why i said I'm not sure, did I say I'm positive they do? I left it open for if anyone else had input on the matter. Obviously it seems they don't so all good then? Now you can go order one.

        • @DisabledUser133670: Yep all good, you just confused me real good with that first comment. I have only had good experience with Kogan over the years so was intrigued when you offered a different perspective. Thanks for verifying it :)

          @ShamelessBargains:

Kogan sell HK stock. The end. People like DisabledUser need help. Seriously. Fake SLRs? Taking out Canon parts and substituting them with potatos? I've heard some conspiracy theories about Ruslan but that's extreme.

Sounds like total bullshit to me. I asked Google just for shits and giggles - nothing there.

      • Yeah I couldn't find anything either? Not sure where Shandez gets his intel but it needs to be more black & white.

  • You can't get the cash back from cannon though, still a great price I may get one

    • Yeah unfortunately. JB are selling this camera for $685 after cashback.

      • Delivery speed was excellent, arrived mid last week. Camera takes much better pictures than expected.
Love the light weight, yet solid feel. LCD clarity is simply brilliant.

For my first DSLR, very happy. Thanks for the deal ShamelessBargains.

        • You are welcome! Glad to here you are enjoying your first DSLR :)

    • Who said you could get the cashback?

  • +1

This is a pretty good price for a decent mirrorless competitor, match it with the EF-S 28mm or the EF 40mm pancake for something really small

    • That's a good idea. The compact size of this DSLR is definitely one of it's main advantages.

  • hmm so shopandmint is the preferred cashback scheme for ebay now?

    • They offer a high cashback at 4% but you can only cash out when your account exceeds $50.

      • Pretty sure CashRewards had the same withdrawal restriction before. But now it's $5.01

Anyway, I just read that S&M (lol) calculates the 4% on the amount paid after discount. Still works out slightly more than CashRewards who calculate the 2.5% before the discount.

        • Yeah it's handy how CashRewards does that. More cash back = happier Ozbargainer :)

  • Own one myself. Good price for a great camera.

  • You pretty much were just discrediting Kogan with no proof? Pretty sure selling fake DSLRs is a criminal offence and Kogan would have been prosecuted by now. Camera house and Dick Smith are competitors so its not surprising that they are the source of the controversy.

Kogan have been in court for the past 5 months for refusing warranty. Until you experience it, all the negative feedback about Kogan sounds like Blah Blah Blah until you get stung. From my current experience with Kogan they are dodgy and I won't be dealing with them again. Good luck you'll need it.

    • Yeah that's so true. It is all dependent on your own personal experience.

What dodgy experience did you receive from Kogan if you wouldn't mind elaborating?
