10% off Flight Centre Gift Cards @ Woolworths

481

Great deal as I don't usually see flight centre GC's on sale

Please not that these is a 5% issuing fee on these cards as per comments but this can be overcome with the the below

Combine with 5% off using MeBank, Citibank or ING Debt cards or with 5% off Wish Gift Cards for an extra discount

Step 1: Price match at flight centre and possibly negotiate a discount on a fare.

Step 2: Make a small deposit to guarantee fare

Step 3: Head off to woolworths and buy a card for 10% off that fare.

Step 4: Pay remaining balance.

Step 5: Enjoy the discount

Great for those planning on booking a flight this upcoming week

Will you come over with Eneloops if I say your name 5x in the mirror at midnight tonight?

        • @montorola: nah, maybe with some dessert from a DH deal :)

  • Oh, Dammit!

I didn't know you could small deposit… they never told me that when i just booked my 5k booking with them the other day..

    • If you do a price beat you have to pay the entire amount on the spot.

      • Wasn't a price beat.. made them put together a package for my hotels, places im visiting etc.

    • Not sure if its changed but they used to give me 24 hrs to pay for the fare after a small deposit ($50 or $100).

Used to always make an excuse that i needed to go to the bank to get cash

      • if you do a price match it has to be paid on the spot

unfortunately the largest card they have is $150 so you'll be scanning for quite some time….

        • +6

This deal is better then first appears, because if you pay a large amount (or any amount) by credit card at flight centre you get charged a credit card fee, but not for vouchers or cash. so you can buy the vouchers with a points collecting credit card and scan your edr card for bonus ff points, and avoid the surcharge at flight centre.

        • @Radio8tiv: You will be missing on complementary travel insurance in this case I guess

          @CandyMan:

Not if your with CBA, don't have to pay for any of the trip on the CC :)
This comes in handy for 1x $7000 + 1x $1500 booking this week. TIMING! Just got to make sure the early Sep flights don't spike up before Wednesday

        • @Coops1:

woolworths will love you if you spend $7000 on a purchase lol

        • +1

          @easternculture:

x50, yes they will won't they. Note to self: visit at busiest time…jokes :). No I will try to pre-arrange Tuesday for best time on Wednesday, most stores only have 10 - 30 on the shelf. But for a saving of $800+, you cant not do it for the sake of 20 minutes of scanning..x2 ends

        • @Coops1: The last time this offer was on, there was a cap of 10 cards per customer.

        • +1

          @Coops1:
For $7000 you will need 47x $150 cards plus another 10 for the other $1500.
I have never seen more than a dozen on the shelf. You may need to raid a few stores…
It would be good if they had at least $500 cards.

There is a 5% issuing fee on these cards, so it's not 10% off really.

Combine with a cheap Woolworths gift card though for good value.

@Op, for me your link doesn't really point to this promotion, it takes me to the Woolworths special page but I don't see it anywhere.
Perhaps you can take a screenshot?

Also, seems to be a 5.5% discount as per @bradism.

    • It won't be online until Tuesday.

  • +1

Hey OP, feel free to include the info I included the last time I posted this as I feel it's pretty handy.
    I still think it's a good deal!

oh, bradism already linked to it above.

  • "Combine with 5% off using MeBank, Citibank or ING Debt cards"

    Can you explain?

  • I guess these flight centre gift cards will have atleast 12 months validity? I am planning for holidays in april and may buy $3000 worth of FC gift cards to buy tickets in couple of months time? Will that be fine?

    • +2

I believe that you can actually just set up an account/ledger at flight centre and start to pay money on to it and use it as necessary.

      • +2

Yup, this is what we did and avoided the 12 month "expiry".

Got given a $4k FC gift card. Took it to our local store, and they made us an account. No expiry date that way :)

The down side is that you're then locked in to use that store :) Happy travels!

        • Ah wow that is an awesome tip. Thanks!

But as soon as you buy the GC you're locked in. Making the account just gets rid of the expiry but you were still locked in to FC, had you not made the account.

  • Let it be known that ING have revoked their 5% cash back if making multiple purchases on the same day under 100

    • Really? Bummer. Did they make an announcement?

  • +4

Flightcentre is a joke. Book yourself and save. They can hold fares domestically for the day with qf and international fare depending on the booking class/conditions. The company is just a giant ponzi scheme.

    • Price match

      • +5

Yeah Flight Centre are a joke. They also mark-up the cancellation fees that the airlines/hotels charge so that they still get their commission if you cancel the booking. They also mark products up AND take a commission. The only way to use these vouchers would be to price beat with them, which would you save you around 5% if you can't get 5% cashback

        • +8

Yes, yes and double yes. They are glorified internet users that use internal wholesalers so the company maximises profit from top to bottom as mentioned a Ponzi scheme. Use ITA flight matrix for booking international flights that don't use low cost carriers. Use webjet if searching for LCC's and then book directly with that site/airline. Use World nomads for insurance and there are a plethora of hotel sites. Do about an 30 mins work and its all done and you will save far more than using Flight Centre. About 80% of them are dishonest plebs (the richer the area of the store, the worst the mark ups) who get away with murder once you sign their contracts/invoice's and agree to their T&C's which are one sided. Booooooooooooooo……………….

    • I don't call em FrightCentre for nothing!

One look at the cancellation fees etc, and you'll know why lol

  • Yeah I personally would be wary of booking with them in the future. I booked a holiday earlier in the year. Staff member was more interested in showing me photos of his house that was to be featured on a TV show than discussing where we were heading to. When we got our itinerary we got it for someone else to a different destination with all their personal details.

  • Can you use this to book Tigerair or Jetstar flights???

  • Step 1: Price match at flight center and possibly negotiate a discount on a fare.

Wont work as per the terms and conditions mentioned by Flight Center website.

""Your quote must be for the same form of payment as you intend to pay Flight Centre (e.g. cash, credit card).""

    Correct me if i'm wrong.

    • +1

most of them will not know the full T&C anyways, as long as you dont mention anything

  • i have tried at three woolworths in Brisbane and none of them know about the deal?

    Have I missed something.

    • +1

      It starts on Wed.

  • OK, started getting these in small installments. :).
I will let you know how painful it is (if at all). I for one don't mind spending my time for money, tis fun

    • $1000 of woolworths vouchers cost $950 (Entertainment book) —- why I never bought $20000 worth @ 7.5% off I don't know!
    • 7x FC $150 cards worth $1050
    • $9.42 in FSC points (Frequent Shopper Club)
    • $7.75 left over on the woolworths vouchers
    • total final cost of $932.83 for $1050 of vouchers

Restating the posts of others before………On $1050 of FC cards - Total saving of 11.11% ($117.17) or 10.2% ($107.75) if no FSC

  • Anyone tried to buy the voucher today? Have been to two woolies, none of them have any Flight Centre Cards. Tried to use Westfield card to buy Wish Card in Woolworth and BigW Doncaster, both been told no gift card to gift card. Any comments?

    • when to Woolworths at Bondi Junction this afternoon, they has like 100+.

I paid for them with egift card & staff had no issue.

  • It's scanned at full price + 5%??
I don't see discount. I am from Brisbane. Any one in Brisbane bought some?

    • -2

Buy a few at full price. Then show them the catalog that its 10% off. You can then get it for free as Woolworths has a policy if it scans wrong you get the item for free

    • No luck for me either in Brisbane. Flight Centre have matched the JR Pass deal also posted and I want to use the gift cards to pay for it.

  • flight centre matched jetstars domestic flights from syd to OOL for 4 pax returned via email and called me for me to give them giftcard numbers.

    Saved $81 total

  • I ended up buying 62 of them worth $9300, saving a bit over $1000 when including the 5% off Wish cards. All cards are fully used and 2 trips paid for

Wasn't really painful at all, Woolworths could only process 3 FC at a time, and I did have to visit 3 different store for the $150 variety. Maybe an hour of time it took. Easy to use in-store as well, not too much trouble for agent :), although they did agree that $500 cards would have been better

Bought 12x ticketmaster today and saved another $184 which is handy as well.

    • Very nice.
Agreed $500 would've been better but too bad they don't sell them. I hope you scanned your Everyday Rewards card and did it in as few transactions as possible too to maximise the Qantas points you would've earnt. But when you say 3FC at a time, you mean each transaction could only do 3FC GCs?

What airfare did you purchase btw (if you are happy to share)?

      • In Tas we have frequent shopper club, which is a 1% rebate, spend $2000 get $20. Adding up all the % savings was interesting as I just have to know

Airfare wasn't cheap, did a multicity to HK and back thru SIN for F1 GP. Nothing is cheap at these times. Paid the cheapest price available anywhere online. Ticketmaster cards were for the GP, and another story in itself, but in the end able to use 12 cards for an overseas event, which to Ticketmasters credit was made quite easy.

All in all a timely discount….albeit didn't realise about the 15% of at Target for Ticketmaster…..and I refresh OZB regularly.

      • Re 3x FC cards, the 4th one wouldn't scan, so ended up doing them 3 at a time.

  • Noooo, is this still available anywhere?

    • They've run the promo 3 times in the last few months, so there should be at least one more before Christmas if past promotions is anything to go on.

      • Thanks hellwolf, ended up just paying it all. Didn't want the prices to spike while waiting for the promo to come out
