My mum called me a looft lighter once…now I know what she meant.

Bunnings price on these goes up and down all the time.
I got mine for $20 a few years ago, and then it was up to $50 again since.

  • Are these new models, wasn't there some regulatory problem previously with this device here in Oz?

I use one and it's a great little tool.

Edit: Also people on Aussie BBQ forum were posting getting them for $10 to 15 from Bunnings in June/July.. a couple of receipt scans were posted.

    • Well never the less its a great product. there was a recall a while ago but they fixed it up and now they are as good as ever!!!.

      • Might nip in and swap my one out for a new one then… I did not take it back when they recalled them as it was so useful!

If you want to get going really quick use a BBQ lighter block and the looflighter, its like a mini flame thrower then :)

Why does the name of this device make me think of the German air force / plane in WW2.

  • Thank you for telling me about this invention. I gave you a upvote, not sure if it is a good price, but you have certainly changed my life! :)

  • Which bunnings?

  • didn't someone post on aussiebbq site something about a cheap heatgun to light briquettes? sounds like someone ran with the idea

  • This looks great!
Wish I knew about it before I bought a second chimney.. a single chimney wasn't providing enough lit charcoal for my grill..

I drilled holes in infant-formula cans. Better than bought, and free!

      • Good idea!
I need some hole saw bits though.

I used ~10mm drill, after ~3mm pilot drill. Fast, low pressure. Only thin metal. Ton of holes. Holds ~1kg beads each.

Only so-many tins can be used for bolts n bits :D

Sometimes I cheat, and sit them on the bbq burner to get cherry red fast.

  • A base of EasyLites then normal beads ontop with a hair drier does the trick. If you really want to shine, then use a blower vac :) hasta la vista baby

or just use this for a couple of mins and save money on easylites as well as all that other stuff :)

  • Hair dryer works just like this if you can get away with using your wife's one…

    • Your hair dryer sir must be from out of this world!

You do a have a good idea (which does work) but this is superior!

The tight arse in me says, use the hairdryer, cause it is free.

The tight arse in me says, use the hairdryer, cause it is free.

Plus there's the added bonus of your wife's hair smelling of BBQ!

  • Heat gun works too

  • can someone upload receipt for price match?

thats if i can find it.

  • Anyone found any in WA?

  • went into local bunnings and they don't have it. the guy looked it up on their website and can't find it either.

    • same, nothing in the collingwood store in melbourne

  • I use one like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Auto-Ignition-Flamethrower-Burner… to light the wood charcoal in my egg smoker. No power cords and a canister of gas lasts ages.

  • shall have a look at my local bunnings. hopefully they have 1!

  • Anyone found these in South / South East suburbs of Melbourne? No luck at scoresby or fountain gate today.
