Can someone send this link to the Vic Govt to show them how much of a bunch of idiots they are?

    http://www.translink.com.au/go.php

This whole setup has already been done just 2000kms away!

  • not sure if I need one but having one will not hurt. Fill the form and waiting for the card.

I didn't successfully confirm my registration at the last page, so I tried again. Now my username had been taken, so I tried logging in. Logging in worked! However, I can't tell whether I will be getting my myki or not! No wonder the software for the myki still has problems. They can't even get the registration part of a website working…

  • And what about buying a weekly Vline ticket, how on earth will that work with the Myki? Spending the 1.3billion on train air-conditioning/more carriages would have done it for me.

  • The $1.3b figure being quoted by the media not the amount that has already been spent on the myki system. It includes ongoing operating funding for the next four years.

    • And keeping the Metcard system running, isn't it?

    • It actually includes operating costs for the next ten years.

  • I received my card in the mail today.

  • I received my cards today too, but even though I asked to have the names printed on them, they came without.. :(

  • Well, at least their phone hotlines are generating jobs…

We have experienced a processing error and your myki has been sent to you
with the wrong letter and has not been personalised with your name.

We wanted to contact you to explain this so that you weren't confused when
    you received your myki.

We have a number of options available to you to deal with this issue and we
have set up a dedicated Customer Assistance Hotline for you to call.

    • Where did you hear about that? I didn't receive that notice :|

      • "This myki is anonymous" "The personal information you provided with your application will be automatically deleted approximately 30 days after this letter is mailed to you if you decide not to register".

So they sent us anonymous cards?

        • no, its already in the news. It was an error on their part.
Your myki is NOT anonymous, and the letter they sent out with it was an ERROR.

Another error they made was to not print the name on the card even if you requested for it.

          • @amkssg: Ah well, at least they're fixing it eh!

Called them today, an indian bloke took down my card numbers and names and told me he'd contact me later. Probably meant we'll sort it out and send you the new cards.

They were quick to answer, very polite (though sounded a bit scripted), so I'm really pleased support is there!

  • For those who have recieved their card, how long did it take from the time of booking it to getting it?

I recieved my card today (sent application about a week ago) and theyve sent me a bloody Concession Myki, even though i asked for a full fare…this is a joke.

    • +2

if i am correct, you registered for your card on the day it was released.

I have the same problem as you, the letter mentions that it is a concession card and must be used with proof of concession entitlements.

However, the card enclosed is CORRECT, it is a FULL FARE card, not a concession. I have called to check.
Look at the side of the card with the myki logo,
Full fare cards have symbols: boat, note, bus, tree
Concession cards have symbols: buildings, apple, bus, smiley.

      =========
Other problems you may notice are: name not printed on card even when requested (of which you can call them and they will send a replacement) and letter saying the card is anonymous (which it is not, all FREE mykis are registered)

      • Full fare cards have symbols: boat, note, bus, tree
Concession cards have symbols: buildings, apple, bus, smiley.

        I hope you're right! :) Thanks.

Some gumby probably got a promotion for coming up with those stupid symbols.

    • I have the same letter.

  • I got it in the mail today with someone else's name on it….hahahaha. This is so damn dodgy.

  • I received my Myki card today and it does indeed say that it is a concession Myki card in the letter accompanying the card. Although I read a couple comments above and realised that my Myki card is indeed a full-fare one.

  • Everyone, interestingly, even though the myki cards sent out are suppose to be registered, the are actually NOT. So technically, it seems that they are anonymous.
This explains why after logging in, the page tries to load and eventually gives an error message. You can register your card if you want by clicking "Register another Myki" on the sidebar (after logging in).

  • At least you guys have a card system. NSW tried to introduce the T Card but that epically failed!

  • The offer extended until 31 January 2010

  • Did anyone receive their replacement cards? I called Myki as soon as I received the dodgy cards, and they told me they would sort it out and send new ones but still none!!

  • Never got any of these before we left Brisbane for Melbourne.Went on the trams today and paid $3.20 per Sunday Saver ticket (Metcard). No locals seem to validate their tickets, only tourists…

    • Firstly, myki is still NOT valid on trams, so thank god you didn't get them or use them. Secondly, it's not that no one validates, its just that no one re-validates their card. (The fine for fare evasion is $100++, not validating is stupid).

For example, for me, i am on a monthly, and when you first punch the metcard, it will print an expiry date (a month later). Therefore, i do not bother revalidating.

  • If I use myki money, and i use public transport twice in a day not within 2 hours of eachother it will charge be for a daily right? If I do that for 7 days straight will it charge be for 7 dailies or a 7 day myki pass?

Thats what I've wanted to know for a long time and cant figure out.

I don't want to have to sit down and work out the fares and then work out if I should get a pass or not, it's just so complicated. I usually just buy 10x2 hour tickets and use them when I use them. Simple. -sigh-

    • "But if you use it every day, it will not upgrade you to a 7-day pass or a 30-day pass etc if that is cheaper. These have to be pre-loaded." Source: http://www.ptua.org.au/2009/11/18/myki-qa/

I guess I need to work out this mess.

      • A weekly myki pass cost exactly the same price as 10 x 2 hourly.
But you also have to take into consideration that it approx 1/2 price on saturday and sunday ($3 cap).
Therefore, as long as there is one day a week or more in which you do not take public transport, you should just use your 10 x 2 hourly.

(In fact, if using myki, myki automatically charges you $3 flat on weekend, which is less than a 2 hourly ticket)
