  • you'll need about 4-5 cans if you're going to plasti-dip your wheels. i used 4 doing 15" wheels with around 6 layers

    • Hmm, I did 1 can of plastidip (these cans are bigger) per wheel and it seemed to work out alright, although I only did 5 layers I believe. Might get away with 3 of these? ;)

my first attempt, i had issues with peeling in thinner areas, which led to major peeling all over lol. so i peeled it all off and started again.

if you have really good can control, less surface area on the wheels, 3 might be enough. but i recommend having more cans on hand in case of disaster(!) and also for touch-ups. and if you're like me, you'll want to see what else you can plastidip ;)

        • Ah yeah fair enough. I just remember having mighty sore forearms after the spraying. I also sprayed my spoiler which turned out alright :) considering doing the emblems!

        • @frogduck: i had to alternate hands/fingers. got a can gun now so the pain will be evenly distributed :p

        • @tdw:

I also bought cheapie gun attachment thing but it was horrible and kept coming off. Any recommendation?

        • @frogduck: i bought an actual can gun1, made in usa.

        • @tdw:

Cool, I'll look into that. I got the yellow one from bunnings and do not recommend it at all. Cheers for the tip!

        • @frogduck: autobarn sells them, iirc. if not, ebay (which is where i got mine…exchange rate was good then :(

    • I reckon 4 of these big cans would do. how have yours held up? I ended up using bedliner on mine lol

      • did them last year and they're still holding up. my mechanic ripped a few tiny bits off but the rest has stayed intact.

when i wash my wheels, i use a soft wool wheel brush (i don't really want to risk it with anything that has bristles). more layers help with durability.

      • Mine scratched off when the mechanic most likely used a rattle gun to take out the bolts on my wheels :(

However still not that noticeable with like 3 or 4x 1/2 cm scratched off bits around so I've left it as is for now.

    • I used about half or 3/4 of a can for my 17" rim (it was a pretty 'flat' design). 6 layers as well. Guess they could have been thinner layers but the coverage is fine. Also, I was using 300g cans, not the 396g this deal is for

  • Anyone know if the feel of Plastidip applied to computer mice is similar to the soft-touch on older razer mice (razer copperhead, not sure if mamba had it)?

  • I'm fairly confident that this stuff is literally plastidip, in a bigger can. I bought a few cans of it to do my wheels (Used 3 and a little bit cans for a set of 19" falcon wheels), and I was happy with it. On the bottom of the can there is a stamp with a part number, and iirc it was 'PD xxxxx' which I would assume literally means plastidip.

People have done comparisons I think and apparently they get the same result

edit: actually there's a comparison video in the title of the deal haha!

      • It's made by the same company

Have used Dupli Color Custom Wrap. I bought two cans last time on special for $54. Works a treat. Still have a couple of cans. Looking for what else I can dip. Price seems good. Might give this a go. From what I have seen this seems to be the same as PlastiDip as per the video.

i bought some of those duplicolor cans too, last year. i just go for whatever's cheapest since they're all pretty much the same. unless i want a specific colour that only the plastidip brand has.

i recently just dipped two of my xiaomi powerbanks while waiting for the silicone cases to arrive. edges still a bit sharp but they don't slip and slide everywhere when being stacked with my other powerbanks lol
