Burp, seriously. Does it mean something else in Indian?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burping

    • In Indian culture, burping after having Food indicates that the food was really good and the person enjoyed it. Hope it helps.

      • So burping out thank you it was really nice, is classy :)

If you can burp out Thank-you in their dialect you get a free mango lassie

      • I can't wait to try that out.

      • I think that's in Japanese culture not indian

        • From wikipedia…

Some cultures, notably Chinese and Indian,[8] regard burping as acceptable in certain situations.[9] In Japan, burping during a meal is considered bad manners.[10] In others, particularly Western cultures, such as North American and European cultures, burping is also deemed socially inappropriate.[8] In Middle Eastern countries it is not acceptable to burp out loud, and one should silence one's burp, or at least pretend to do so.

Burp is the least of your worries. Its the dunny explosion after that you worry about.
Guess that couldn't call it "Indian faaaaart plop plop plop bang"

    • Seriously? Does your tummy explode after every indian meal?

    • I doubt (hot) Indian cuisine results in plop sounds.

      • You have the option to order mild…

"Bang" is the porcelain getting painted brown at the end.
Like a human version of the capital letter "U" bent over the dunny.

        • "Bang" is the porcelain getting painted brown at the end.

What color is your porcelain normally?

    What a terrible name :).

I love Indian food… but Seekh Kebabs repeat on you days afterwards, smelling it in your burps every time.
Not a great name for a cuisine famed for its strong use of herbs and spices.

Next to MSY Cheltenham on the Nepean hwy, down from southlands.

Noticed it last week when I was wondering to MSY.

Good luck and congratulations on opening a food premises. Takes a lot of time and money to do what you are doing. Having a go!

So ignore the idiots who complain about Indian food and your choice of trading name.

      Well put, Sir.

    I suppose you mean Southland.
People are actually helping him by alerting him to how stupid the choice of name is.
He should change it immediately. "Burp" and burping at a meal is associated with being vulgar and having bad manners in Australia and all Western countries.
It is a really stupid name choice and may well limit his clients and ultimately his success or failure as a business. It will make his food seem like some kind of peasant version of Indian food which is a bad idea as many people already consider it fairly dubious for hygiene reasons.
Many people will simply choose the next menu and not order from "Burrp". It just sounds wrong.

I can't help but be reminded of the Seinfeld episode when Babu opened a diner and Jerry insisted that he would be much better off changing it to a Pakistani restaurant. Remember how that ended?

    • Maybe they are not chasing westerners?
