Agreed. Would I pay $159? Nope. $17? Yep, a no brainer. They sound great. I don't want to leave work!
Are these like the speakers that attached to my Compaq presario's monitors?
$5.95 delivery for Melbourne metro too

$24.95 posted from Grays :) Good option if the delivery is more than $7.95 from OO
Grays actually owns oo.com.au (and deals direct, and topbuy).
Well there ya go :)
Funny that oo's ebay has it for like $50!
Fantastic! Ordered one for me and one for the wifey! Thanks OP!
Is that one speaker each or one set of speakers each?
thats not how speakers work bro :P
Price on Amazon between ~70 and $160: http://camelcamelcamel.com/JBL-Premium-Performance-Speaker-P…

Dang…bought two sets.
Don't tell my wife!Thx OP got two! Goodbye to shitty DSE TV audio!
Great find OP. Just brought myself a set for work and home.
damn ugly, but hey cant complain with that price.
can't go wrong for the price but reviews are middling at best, though keep in mind these reviews were with the regular-ish price in mind.
should be fine as long as you don't need them too loud!
i'm not buy it after read the Dimensions: (W) 117mm x (D) 117m x (H) 304mm
Just bought one, thanks!!
Great price grabbed a set, Thanks!
Don't need them at all, but 17$ and it's JBL with 20W. Placed the order. Damn :(

Bugger, cost myself $0.61
Cost yourself roughly a gigabyte's worth of micro SD card space.
Clicked. Damn, now I'm gonna have to buy another DAB radio to use them on. Sometimes I wish I didn't know Ozbargain existed, but then again
Are these amplified? with volume control?

did you buy from EBAY or OO ?
@oscarwear: oo
Sure you were not confusing it with the Duet II ?
Anyway I picked them up from Ebay
still showing Buy It Now at 8.00pm
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JBL-Duet-III-Desktop-Speaker-Syst…still available on ebay for $24.95 delivered
beat ya
yeah
Thanks, bought one for my gf.
nothing says "I love you" like a set of JBL Duet III Multimedia Speakers
Bought one. Thanks.
mrs gonna ask why again. :(Because cheap and quality.. hopefully
Thought about those ones and revision II but after reading the reviews (dated back 2009) decided not worth the investment.
Instead, picked up a pair of JBL Pebbles from DSE for under $60 with quite good and relatively recent reviews across all web channels.
I know, it's 3-times the price but you gonna listen it every day after all.I have a set of the Creatures from many years ago.

What would be better?
Duet or Creatures? Are the cables (including 3.5mm input) hard wired to the speakers?
They are great speakers but honestly it's not a huge bargain. There are eBay stores selling them for $50 for sometime now. JBL Speaker prices go down massively when they're about to introduce a new model of the same series. This one was introduced in 2011. But if for $24, great value for money. Worth buying..
Thanks OP

Will this work on the TV if it has a PC audio input?
Uhm, your tv will need output, not input, to support external speakers. Look for a headphone output. Many modern tv's don't have those anymore, in which case you can get a converter from optical to analogue out (e.g. this one ), and plug your speaker into that (your tv would need optical or SPDIF out, and you need an optical cable which costs a few bucks from HK). I have one of those because my stereo system does not accept optical-in. That particular converter has very good sound quality.
I see, yeah, the TV has a headphone output and a coaxial S/PDIF output. Awesome, thanks for the advice, looks like this is perfect for the TV with the headphone output.
Still in-stock
where?
I must have bought the last pair, got invoice 6 minutes ago.
You bought the II model. Those are the ones in stock now that the link in the OP goes to. Last night's deal was for the III model which doesn't appear to be in stock at OO. I'm not really sure of the differencesbetween the II and III models, but $18 still seems like a good price for the II model.

Maybe the title needs to be updated?
@c0balt: just checked my invoice, it's III, well let's see how it goes, if they cancel my order it's no biggie.
Thanks for posting, just had my order confirmed. Sweet deal. Only cost me $1 with the rebate they gave me with my last purchase.
how's everyone's delivery going for Melbourne?
Got an email from Toll saying it should be delivered today. I'll know when I get back from work.
Got mine at lunchtime, set them up and they sound good.
Compared to my Z623's which I paid $99 for and are 2.1s so not really a fair comparison as these only cost $17 and are 2.0, but RRP of both sets are similar.
The JBL's are slightly better at producing the high frequencies but I still prefer the Logitechs as they sound better overall, the Z623's aren't perfect either and when they fail I will most likely replace them with the Klipsch Promedia 2.1.
Having said all that for $17 these are very good value, definitely worth purchasing. Thanks once again OP for posting.
I have the Z623's as well and was planning to upgrade to Klipsch Promedia 2.1 too! what a coincidence :)
The wife doesn't like the Z623 in the living room so the Duets will replace them :(
I haven't tried the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 yet, but used Klipsch GMX-A 2.1, Altec Lansing MX5021, Altec Lansing CS21. I believe they are in the same class and worth to pay for.
The JBL Duet III with RRP $150 makes me confident placing the order but it turns out not worth. $17 for an electric speaker if we don't have anything to listen to, that's it. Will not expect so much next time at this price :)
Are they really that bad?
I had mine delivered at 7pm on Friday night and still haven't taken them out of the box. If the sound quality is that poor then I will probably gift them to someone who doesn't really know sound quality, but will reciprocate a gift based on RRP ;)
@c0balt:
You can try yourself and put them back as the box has no seal :)To me, its sound quality is not so bad, equivalent to those of 30-40$ speakers, say Creative T3130. My own problem was too high expectation due to brand name JBL @20W speaker with RRP 150$ :))
@com930:
I agree, I also expected much more given the RRP and being JBL.
the wife just received mine, first time buying from OO, very impressed with turnaround!
Mine arrived today - not bad, however the right speaker at the 500hz frequency seems to resonate so I definitely would not pay the RRP for these as I don't think the quality is worth it. Other than that, pretty happy with the purchase.
Mine arrived today as well, I thought there was something wrong with the speaker when bass was all weird (turns out that I should've peeled the plastic that covers the back). My sentiment is in line with the norm here. The speaker is definitely worth $17~25, probably not worth the RRP.
got mine today too :)
they've got nothing on my cheapish creative t20s (~$80), that rrp is ridiculous!
Mine arrived on yesterday and very happy with the purchase.. It's more bigger than I expected for 25
Mine arrived today, wow, definitely worth the $25, thanks again, OP.
mine arrived today and had graysonline sticker on it? oo's orders are fulfilled by grays?
greys own oo.
Wow, strong markup.
