  • 160G IDE inside?

    • I'm sure it would be a 5.25" SATA drive. (5.25's are commonly used, and I doubt you'd find an IDE these days).

160GBs is a very small drive for HiDef content. 1 hour of HD is ~12-15GB per hour, so potentially it may only hold 11 hours of recordings.

Still, it is a cheap twin tuner device, which no doubt could be upgraded to a larger drive down the track.

Most hard drives are 3.5" so i don't know where you got 5.25" from??? Its probably an IDE drive since it does say in the product description IDE Hard drive…

IDE isn't bad. Its just an old and outdated connection for hard drives.

  • that bad ?

  • Price wise isnt bad, just the IDE, sata would be btr. If anyone finds out which it is would make deal btr if sata.

It's IDE so it must be at least 3yr old - or 4yo in few more days!

I would be careful to get this as earlier models are known with issues such as lockup, freeze during recording, etc. Can't tell what model for this model but my friend used to have a Supernet 8000T with IDE HD and it gave him lots of headache so he dump it after 6 months - didn't bother with warranty since he got it from Ebay.

Run, don't walk, away from Supernet units. They are incredibly heat sensitive, buggy, and prone to capacitor bulging. Ours died a slow death until it wouldn't record, then wouldn't switch off, then wouldn't switch on.

Avoid. Spend the cash on something else like a Tivo, Beyonwiz or something else. Really.

    • Thanks for the heads up on this

  • Agreed I had 2 units looked the same with different brands , one from Aldi's and the other Supernet, both had power supply issues, this was a few years ago, I would avoid these like the plague, you will regret wasting your money.
