20% off Slysoft Software Subscription (~ $145 AUD for Lifetime AnyDVD HD Subscription)

30

I have been thinking about getting an AnyDVD HD lifetime subscription for some time now, but the price has always made me baulk, although at this price AnyDVD HD is still more than a copy of Windows 8.1 Pro OEM.
Not sure why people would use CloneBD over MakeMKV, but I like to rip my Blu Rays to iso files for storage purposes.
Prior to this I was (or rather am) using the 21 day free trial (I format my comp every 3-6 months anyway).

  • Why do you prefer ISOs?

  • That's a lot of money just for a Bluray->ISO

    Aurora has a free BluRay -> ISO

    SO does Burnaway

    WinISO also does a good job for about

    ANd the DVDFab equiv is $us70 for lifetime

    • I sprang for a lifetime DVDFab with the lot a few years ago which came with a free media player (which is still sitting in it's box). The latest version is a slick program. I for one would like to thank our Communist Overlords for their pirating expertise.

      Aurora, Burnaway and WinISO won't decrypt Blurays.

      You can rip to MKV using MakeMKV http://www.makemkv.com/ but it may come out of beta one of these days and start charging (??) or at the least stop providing updates to allow decryption of the latest Blurays. EDIT: According to this article it will only work for free for BDs for a short time - http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/rip-dvds-blu-rays-absolute-ease… - and also comments say that it doesn't have a 100% success rate.

      The free version of DVDFab "can copy some old DVDs and Blu-rays". That is because the encryption and copy protection/DRM techniques of BluRays (and DVDs still) are constantly changing and developing. Once you pay for the more capable version of DVDFab it works out pretty similar to AnyDVD and it isn't as capable. The guys at SlySoft have always been a step ahead in BD decryption and DRM removal including reverse engineering the BD java virtual machine environment. AnyDVD also handles 3D discs and will let you play them on a 2D TV/PC (in 2D of course).

      In addition to encryption there are a number of other DRM measures being used to copy protect DVDs and BDs including Cinavia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinavia). AnyDVD has some workarounds for Cinavia if you use a software DVD/BD player but nobody has cracked Cinavia itself yet, only the software players that are required by law to detect it.

      Ripping to ISO means you can have the menus, among other things, which is useful if you are just trying to archive your legally purchased discs like me. I have found it useful for my media centre PC that makes everything convenient and means kids don't have to damage discs.
